Daniel
I really don't think any of them top 4 teams would want Gabby...
Morley_crosses_to_Withe
Our only bright spot - the only player who looks like he's trying to actually do something. He's the one player we've got to hold onto. I'd drop Kozak and play him up top on Saturday to see if it discourages the long ball. I'm not sure I agree with all of this but I'd definitely give him a run up top.
tomaspg
We wont get anywhere near 10m for gabby, and personally i dont think we should sell him, always works hard irregardles and he has this talent of stepping up when we really need him too. He should stay here until he retiers, id feel sick if i saw him in another teams kit. Even if he doesnt score more than a couple of goals each season he adds other values, a clear head, leadership, he can spread a defence out to allow other players space. One of my favourite players
markavfc40
He had one great run in the second half today where he got a shot off and aside from that gave his all and tried to make things happen by coming deep for the ball. Trouble is he is finding that there is very little movement from many of the players alongside him. You could sense both he and Delph were getting very frustrated at the lack of movement and work rate from some of the other players today.
VillaChris
Think 7-8m is about right for him.
dakid007
He is terrible. No footballing ability. Gabby along with Hutton Albrighton herd Westwood Luna weiman baker helenius Bowery all need to be replaced Edited December 27, 2013 by dakid007
VillaChris
Took his goal well and lead the line well in the first half, won more in the air than Kozak did. And then in the second half he just disappeared. Could be connected to being moved out wide. Keep him as a wideman for the away games as it generally works but for home games I'd keep him down the middle when Benteke returns as if you play two up top you need one to drop deep to link with midfield and when on form Benteke can do that. Spoony
He was our best player by a long way today and he wasn't even that good
Daniel
The long balls killed him. Get the ball down and let him run at people and look what happens. Watching Baker/Clark/Lowton punt the ball up field is not helping his game.
foreveryoung
Clearly frustrated with his team mates ability. Went to celebrate with lambert today hardly acknowledged the others
Adam_
Sell Gabby for £10 million. Wage bill reduced, cash can be invested in a creative player. Gabby is a specialist squad player. He is not doing well in a squad like Villa's where he has to be our play-maker and top scorer. He would be better in a side with a deep bench coming on as sub or played away from home in a defensive counter-attack unit. He's on between 40-45k a week which is far less than Given, Ireland & Bent who are (obviously) contributing nothing to the team. He doesn't have to be our play-maker/top scorer at all! And Villa are a defensive counter-attacking team and he is occasionally on the bench and comes on (for example, the West Brom game) So you've just pretty much said he needs to be at Villa Any team in the top four. £10m is peanuts. Huge value. We would be desperate to sell. No top 4 team would want him and we aren't desperate to sell.
Czechlad
Not to discredit Gabby but what I have noticed is he seems almost immune to criticism on here. I understand the fans love him and obviously so do I. He is a good player and loves the club, but today he was invisible. Kozak has been getting so much stick from the fans because he does nothing all match but still manages to score. Gabby did that today and was named Man of the Match. I don't understand this at all. This has nothing to do with my bias towards a Czech Villa player, I just am perplexed by the fans. The issue isn't just Gabby's play, it was more that no one was helping him or creating chances for him. I just want to point this out.
VillaChris
Gabby was decent first half, he won a decent amount in the air. Kozak hardly won anything when we punting our braindead high balls to him and seemed to want to foul Wiliams all the time.
OutByEaster? Posted December 28, 2013 Moderator Share Posted December 28, 2013 Our best player today, which isn't saying much, but his 77th goal I think, which puts him level with Gary Shaw and a 303rd appearance which puts him ahead of Ehiogu and Hendrie. He's better up front than wide and if we can ever find a midfield, I think he might start to get the chances and goals his workrate deserves. Good to see him as Captain too. Kozak hardly won anything when we punting our braindead high balls to him and seemed to want to foul Wiliams all the time. The punts weren't even to him. Most of the time the balls were launched forward with just hope that it would go near Kozak. Honestly you cannot expect Kozak to somehow chase down the punted ball, win possession then hold onto it while being surrounded by Swansea's defenders. We had no one forward every time he received the ball.

VillaChris
Just thinking about the goal....even though Weimann was generally once again beyond useless he did thread a nice throughball that Gabby finished off no problem. Now think how often we've done that for our strikers this season? If a horrible out of form Weimann can do that, think what a number 10 could do on a regular basis which would help the strikers and would improve our play no end. We simply have to get one in January but please no more might come good in 6-12 months job, we need one that can hit the ground running.
