The_Rev
Rodney Marsh says that Carlos Tevez is on £286,000 a week tax free. He also says that Gareth Bale is as good as Leo Messi, so take his claim over Tevez's wage with a pinch of salt.

lapal_fan
Is there any reason his daughters (Tevez's) could not live in the UK? Has he got a wife? Whats the situation? Heard Rodney Marsh today trying to sell his book...he wanted to sound edgy and used phrases like 'ive hurt alot of people in my life, but i wont say sorry..' stupid word removed. Wainy316
Breaking news - Man City have made a £150 million bid for Barcelona star Lionel Messi. Barcelona issued an immediate response and had this to say: Lol **** off More to follow Spanish law dictates that you have to have a buyout clause in your contract. City could just offer Barcelona that and they would have to accept the bid. It's only €250m. One would assume (hope) that in this situation that Lionel himself would then say: "lol **** off". The_Rev
He isnt. Manchester City pay his tax. It's a common practice in football, when players demand a salary they demand a net salary.
R.I.C.O.
That's obscene. Is'nt Man Citeh's wage bill something daft like twice their turnover?
Genie
So its actually £286k AFTER tax, not tax free then. He will still be paying tax, its just he negotiated a salary after tax so MC pay him more to cover the contribution
Wainy316
Surely Man City's wage tax has nearly paid off the UK's deficit by now.
Genie
Anyone else think this is not just another Rooney style ploy to get an (even more) obscene wage rise? Did he not have his request to renegotiate his contract turned down recently?
Wainy316
He has apparently said that no money in the world will convince him to stay and has threatened to quit football altogether if they don't sanction his move, so I'd guess not.
Genie
So why ask to renegotiate his deal then if he felt like this in the summer? They also tried to extend his current deal by another year.
uncy_chris
Tevez is an oddball. He's so committed on the pitch, often compared to a terrier when chasing down a ball. Yet he's threatening and clearly ready to quit football altogether. If he does retire midway through a contract worth £286k p/w then you have to admire him putting family before money. Maybe money in football has become so disproportionate that he feels he's losing touch with what's important?

He is separated from his wife. She lives in Argentina and refuses to go to the UK, though reportedly she would consider moving to Spain as it's warm and Spanish-speaking. We will miss Tevez's passion. However even if he doesn't play another match for us again, with City's money, his replacement is not far off. Torres or Dzeko it is, then. dudevillaisnice
Why are city fans adamant on getting Torres? he looks nothing like the player he was before.
Gingerlad
They're only interested in weakening thier rivals. Expect a massive bid for Bale in January.
