leemond2008
Rite then I'll explain why I ask, for the first night in about 3 or 4 weeks me flatmate has fooked off and I have got the place to myself and when I was asked what I was up to tonight by someone at work I said "I'm going home to switch the lights off and have a few cans in the dark whilst I listen to me music, I can't wait for it" Now a few people questioned that and said it was wrong and it is an unwritten rule that you don't drink when you are on your own etc etc I explained that I wasn't Gunna get pissed just get a few cans and completely chill outon my own for the first time in weeks. Any way just as I have cracked my first can and was half way through my first song I get a txt message saying "open up" I go down stairs and sure enough I have company, now don't get me wrong I don't mind this girls company and was actually quite glad of it but when I asked her what bought her round to mine to darken my towels she said "I didn't like the thought of you sitting drinking alone, so I thought I'd give ya some company" I'm not depressed or stressed about fook all I was just looking forward to being left alone for a change to listen to what I wanted as loud as I wanted whilst having an alcoholic beverage or two, I wasn't planning on gettin twisted out of my skull and killing myself or anything like that. Is it really that socially unacceptable to have a drink on your own???
ender4
its fine once a week or once in a while. its wrong if its more than twice a week, or if you're drinking alone because you are depressed (which your not).
MMFy
Sounds like perfectly rational behaviour to me. It's only going to become a problem if you're going to shut yourself away and drink like a tramp every night under the same conditions... Some people just don't understand when you want to spend a bit of time on your own.
leemond2008
See I rarely drink at home unless it's a weekend and the football is on (that's just a standard thing to do) but weeknights I never drink therefore I think it's fine
ender4
also guys need a bit of 'me time', they need to be alone and chill. girls don't think like that, they need other people around all the time.
Bazdavies79
Drinking alone is ok, if only done on rare occasions and the drinking isn't too heavy, IMO. Let your hair down, listen to your music, watch your porn, erm I mean TV! Talk to yourself in a slightly mad way, it's fine... But it should never ever be preferred to the company of a lady! tonyh29
I don't tend to drink at home ... I keep beer , wine and cider in the fridge in case anyone pops in but the wife is more likely to crack a beer open than I am But when I go out or away with mates I'll quite often have a drink alone when everyone has crashed out before me ... My night owl tendencies rather than a superhuman ability to drink...

Stevo985 Posted February 29, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted February 29, 2012 Depends on your mindset. I don't think it's wrong, but for me, drinking is very much a social thing. So I would never drink on my own.

Zatman
Dont drink at home myself but dont see the issue, its not liking your getting hammered everynight at home(if you are then might have an issue) Even going to a bar alone is not so bad, I often go watch football alone though if went to a club alone id find that a bit weird
