Wainy316
The fact that Soulslike is it's own genre is testament to the impact that the Souls games have had on gaming. But why, are the recent 'Soulslike' games looking like complete carbon copies? Down to the menus, health bars, inventories, boss arenas etc? Are From Soft cool with this?
villa4europe
Finally putting time in to spiderman MM, 3rd time I've started it but 1st time I've got past an hour, it's clearly a good game as was spiderman but for whatever reason it doesn't click, even tonight I was on the psn store and nearly bought RE2 to play instead

I was late to it and only picked it up when they released the directors cut on ps5 and it's the best game I've played in this new generation era or whatever you want to call it Its an incredible game and I didn't 100% it if there's such a thing, the ending crept up on me and I had 2 or 3 side bits I wanted to finish, one day I'll go back
Chindie Posted October 22, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted October 22, 2023 Story finished on Spider-Man 2. Very very very well done. Took it to places I didn't expect, did the mash up remix thing of 2 classic plotlines very well. And still a lot of game left to play. Which is good because it's brilliant fun.

Have you played it? Yeah, I can't run top settings, and it is hardware intensive, no question- my PC was badass when I bought it 3 years ago- but it's certainly playable on middle settings for me. I'm loving it tbh, although the last patch killed my save. Call it a test run. If they get it stable and optimised it will be fantastic imo.

Have you played it? Also, if you are into city builders I would 1000% recommend 'Workers and Resources:Soviet Republic'. Not necessarily as an alternative, but as another great game in your quiver. It's got a really steep learning curve, but it's soooooo worth it. It uses key materials, used to build pretty much anything, which all must be managed and sent to sites enabling building. It's similar to the early settlers games, in that to build, say, a house, you need to get vehicles to deliver bricks, concrete, steel, electrical components etc to the site, and buses to deliver workers. There is a mode ('realistic mode') which is a must play. In this mode you cannot buy resources to instantly build. There are no short-cuts. Everything must be transited from a customs gate from the outside world to your sites to get them to build, or later on as you develop means of getting the resources within your city, from the quarries, factories, timber yards etc. It's not for the faint hearted- depending on distances, and resource availability it can take up to half an hour of real time gameplay to build anything, but it is insanely realistic and addictive. I've spent hours and hours on it, sometimes leaving the computer alone for a couple of hours for things to take their course, only to find that the dumper truck delivering coal to my heating plant, which it needed to function, got stuck in traffic during winter and all my residents died of hypothermia. When you get it right, though, you look at the whirring wheels of the systems you put in place and just admire what you built. The effort shows. Also, don't worry about the 'soviet' aspect of it, it's made by Czech devs (I think), there is no Russian involvement, it's just a setting. Anyway, they are both great games worthy of your time. AndyM3000
Not heard of Workers and Resources before, will take a look but that does sound rather hardcore if you can leave it for a couple of hours and your entire population has died of hypothermia! I used to play city builders years ago, not played for a while but I can put a lot of hours into them. Will start with Skylines, was considering waiting until Xmas time to see if they smooth the performance out a bit but may end up getting it sooner rather than later, especially with an international break around the corner.

Are you struggling to get in the 'black' financially? I used similar tactics to CS1 and put loads of specialised industry, but with a small town I'm struggling to get there. I'm OK money wise cos of the bonuses on levelling up, but I always try to get sustainable asap. The costs for upkeep of any power generation except wind and coal seem very steep at the moment.
