briggaman
He could have broken his leg just then in the cycling. Bad fall...
Stevo985 Posted August 2, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted August 2, 2012 OR for the men after getting up from that fall. Decent start I suppose
briggaman
Looks like the women cyclists might have missed the window for passing. Some are saying we could be disqualified.
briggaman
Actually, it looks like we aren't being disqualified so will be facing China for the gold. Although now it's saying relegated. No idea what's going on and the BBC aren't doing a good job at finding out at the moment.
drat01
So this judge has record of disqualifying brits?
briggaman
Whatever the case (relegated or disqualified) the blame lies with the riders. They know the rules and Pendleton went too soon. I just hope she can pick herself back up for the other races.
PompeyVillan
Meh. Smallest of margins and all that. I'm disappointed but I suppose that's the sport. Over to the men.
tonyh29
If Pendleton needs some consoling then I'm happy to volunteer for the job

briggaman
Well, Germany have just won gold in the women's team sprint. They actually finished second, yet the Chinese were demoted due to the changeover. Basically Germany won it by default as the officials decided to relegate GB and the Chinese. That's a bit of a hollow gold as they didn't even deserve it...
briggaman
The Chinese would still win silver yet they've both walked off by the looks of things... UPDATE - They are back out for the medals. Probably got told that they had to get their backsides out there.
LondonLax
Why were GB disqualified but China only relegated?
Stevo985 Posted August 2, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted August 2, 2012 I think GB were relegated too but at that stage it means they didn't set a qualifying team so they go out. Whereas China were already in the Gold medal race so relegating them just puts them to Silver
