Stevo985 Posted June 26, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted June 26, 2012 So, assuming the fans ballot will be a "no" that means Rangers need all of the undecalred to be a "Yes" in order to force a tie. What happens in that scenario? (purely out of curiosity)
BOF Posted June 26, 2012 Moderator Share Posted June 26, 2012 Not so sure Celtic would vote no. They need Rangers. They need the money from the derby games. If anything they need Rangers more than everyone else does. Now it doesn't matter. They can vote no and say they'd have done it anyway.

What happens in that scenario? (purely out of curiosity)Nothing can be done. The motion has to pass (hehe) 8 to 4. There are already 5 no votes, so as it stands they're already down. It just won't be actually voted on until the 4th.
Stevo985 Posted June 26, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted June 26, 2012 Interesting. Never actually thought they'd go, but seems more likely than not now! What a fine mess.
BOF Posted June 26, 2012 Moderator Share Posted June 26, 2012 Well every 5 minutes Sky are confirming another Rangers player who won't sign for Newco. The latest is Kyle Rafferty. Looks like they really will have to start from scratch in Division 3 with new players. lol out loud.
AVFCforever1991
haha Celtic fans must be loving this and hating this because they are going to miss the Derby days.. But it will become an even worse league without Rangers..
Zatman
think only McCulloch has said he is staying if they go division 3 and have new owners they will still attract a few div 1 or 2 players due to money and also prestige of club which will help them bounce quickly up leagues

bickster Posted June 26, 2012 Moderator Share Posted June 26, 2012 Which Rangers get a vote, the no longer in existence liquidated club or the newco seeking to gain admittance? Either way I can't see how they are entitled to a vote. the oldco doesn't exist as an entity any more and the newco are seking to join, you can't vote on your own admittance surely? P3te
Oh absolutely Zatman. They'll piss through the leagues. not sure why people think this will be the case. they're not going to have their old players - they're going to need to buy new ones that'll be at their level. they won't be able to pay huge money either, because they're broke, new company or not - already there's talk of the newco going into administration it could be a lot longer than many people think before rangers, in whatever guise, are in the spl again

If even a tenth of their old fans come to the new club's games, they'll still be a top 10 side by attendance in Scottish football, and that should be enough to ensure sufficiently good players to guarantee at least first division, if not SPL, football at the earliest opportunity

I think everybody knows what the result of the ballot is going to be so Rangers are given a vote just to humour them. It's similar reasons why Celtic havent declared publicly what they are going to do. I'm sure everybody on the board at Celtic wants Rangers in the league because they know the Old Firm needs to exist in order for outsiders to be interested in the league. They also know that most Celtic fans wouldnt appreciate them voting "yes" because they are more interested in schadenfreude at the moment to think about it rationally so the board can just keep quiet on the matter until it's clear their vote is purely academic. It is interesting how the two clubs who this affects the most dont really have any say in the matter isnt it?
