NeilS
Surely It won't be £15m per year, £15m over 2-3 years maybe? If it is £15m per year, then hats off to the person who negotiated that for us as that is about 3 times what Nike were paying us from memory. Condimentalist
£15m for 3 years I would think. I think that's similar to what we were getting from Nike.

El_Hierro
Record deal Aston Villa secure new £15 million kit deal wth Italian manufacturer by Mathew Kendrick, Birmingham Mail Feb 6 2012 ASTON Villa have signed a record-breaking £15 million kit deal with an Italian sportswear manufacturer to replace current supplier Nike. Macron will produce Villa’s playing strip, replica kit, training wear and other clothing merchandise for the next four years. It is the most lucrative kit agreement in the football club’s history with the new suppliers replacing American sportswear giants Nike at the end of this season. Villa chose Macron from a field of more than 10 other manufacturers across the world after deciding the Bologna-based firm were the perfect fit. The new home kit will go on sale in June, with the away strip on sale in July from the Villa Park and New Street outlets and Villa’s online store. Villa’s merchandising manager John Greenfield said: “We have negotiated with more than 10 sports brands across Europe, America and China over the past six months looking for the best partner for both Aston Villa and our supporters. Macron ticked all the boxes for the club and we were very impressed with the overall set-up and experience they have in the manufacturing of football kits. “The design team and range of products on offer to the club was second to none and suited our requirements. “The style and quality of the replica shirts and the enthusiasm to work with the club in the overall design and production of our shirts was a key part of the decision to sign with Macron.” Villa have enjoyed a close relationship with Nike during their five-year £10 million deal despite some teething troubles with the quality of kits. Macron also produce the kits of clubs including Napoli, Bologna, Leeds, West Ham, Real Mallorca and Braga and Mr Greenfield explained why Villa chose the respected Italian company. “Our objective was to sign up with a technical sportswear manufacture who could offer, not only match kit and training wear for the players and management, but a full range of product for both our supporters and customers,” he added. “A brief was given by the Aston Villa merchandise team based at Villa Park to ensure that the range of official products suits the needs of all. We have worked closely with the Italian design team in Bologna, Italy, looking at the latest technical fabric to develop an exciting range of goods.” Read More http://www.birminghammail.net/birmingham-sport/aston-villa-fc/aston-villa-news/2012/02/06/aston-villa-secure-new-15-million-kit-deal-wth-italian-manufacturer-97319-30272862/#ixzz1larZdhAU
quizme
I guess the £15m is over the whole contract, probably 3 years. £5m per year.
Houlston
So its £1.75m more per year than Nike paid.
Stevo985 Posted February 6, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted February 6, 2012 Fair enough if it's over 3 years. That's a pretty solid deal for a club of our size.
AVFCAM
Disappointing brand, disappointing kits (unless we get Napoli quality) but £15million over 3 years is hard to turn down! Especially when Nike was £10m over 5 years! Now we all just have to pray that it's as nice as Napoli's and no 'leisure centre' men are on the sleeves! NeilS
It says four years in the above article. So is it £15 million over 4 years? Which to be honest isn't that great a deal to be shouting about. It is ok, but light years behind others in our league.
Nabby
As good a deal as we could get in our current state
NeilS
True, if we had kept up the fight in the top 5 or 6 then I guess a better deal would have been on the table. The last couple of seasons has seen our star wane considerably.

philthevillan
It's a decent deal for where we are at the moment and it may well be that Macron offer some really good quality merchandise. But I still can't help thinking of the days when our kit was made by Diadora. Some of the merchandise we had then was shite!
McGregor1888
Am I right in saying we can only get the kit through the clubshop(s) and online store? I fail to see how this is a step in the right direction to be honest.
The_Steve
£3.75m a year for four years compared to £2m a year from Nike. Good deal all round.

Keyblade
Am I right in saying we can only get the kit through the clubshop(s) and online store? I fail to see how this is a step in the right direction to be honest. It's not exactly like we can find our current kits anywhere in the world even though we're with Nike. Head to any Nike store and the only shirts there are United, Arsenal, Barcelona, Inter, Juventus etc. I live in Asia currently and I think I'm the only one in the country with a Villa shirt (which I bought online). Perhaps with Macron, being their biggest (or second biggest) fish, we'd have some shirts sold in Italy for example.
