The UK is probably heading in the same direction as Japan, where 70% of unmarried men are not in a relationship, and over 40% of men and women between 18 and 34 are virgins. Remove the social pressures and give people other life-choices and it seems that they fail to see sex as a big enough reward for the hassle and demands of relationships. That robot would need a top of the line warranty for the things i'd do to it
Davkaus
It does sometimes get lonely living alone and being single, but five minutes on the internet and it's all ok again. I've tried the relationship thing a few times, it always leads to misery, for me at least.
Chindie Posted September 20, 2016 VT Supporter Share Posted September 20, 2016 I think most people would believe there's more to a relationship than a warm hole on demand.
Davkaus
Of course there is, there's the loss of freedom, privacy, the expense, and the arguing. I might not be good at the whole relationship thing.

You can get sex for free, for £30 or for £500 and do something else the next day. Anybody that marries for it is a bit dim. People that see 'relationships' as hassle are probably better off staying home alone and knocking one out to some smartphone porn.

Boys holidays becoming non existent unless its a stag. Winters coming might have to now go grab myself one...winter sucks if your alone

Winters coming might have to now go grab myself one...winter sucks if your alone Existentially, life gets simpler when you have a partner: fewer options and definitely fewer decisions to make. In his Pulitzer Prize-winning book The Denial of Death, Ernest Becker explains how having a partner is an 'immortality project', in that the other person bears witness to the other's life and by doing so, makes them feel heroic and therefore part of something eternal. So according to Becker there is a lot to be said for having a partner, as long as you can manage to construct a symbolic self which transcends your physical self. A belief in 'love' as something valuable in terms of something symbolic and transcendent, maintains the comforting delusion. villaglint
MMV I have to say your relationship with the opposite sex is genuinely fascinating. Apologies if I'm treading over old ground but have you ever shared your story on VT? I would be really interested to understand what made MMV the man he is today. Obviously if it isn't something you want to share on a football forum that is entirely understandable.
