DiegoD
So basically I have a bit of extra cash and a lot more free time at the moment and was looking into playing some online cash games. Does anyone currently play or used to play? If so some tips and recommended websites would be welcome
maqroll
I'm a firm believer that they're all rigged. Play live tournaments only, and never cash games.
AndyM3000
I play anything and everything online and live. If you think they are rigged your off your mind, they make money whoever wins so they dont care about that. Whats your bankroll and what stakes are looking to play for cash games? Also the biggest poker forum out there is twoplustwo.com
DiegoD
I'll start with $100 and play fairly low stake stuff i think 5c/10c tables. I've had a look at 888poker. They give you $8 when you sign up so its a chance to check out their software before you commit.
troon_villan
Stick to live games against real people, then there's no question about it being above board. I think maqroll was referring to the virtual shite you get on William Hill, Coral...etc...which is a waste of time. 888.com, party poker and titan are ones i've used in the past and are all pretty decent. AndyM3000
Id just stick with PokerStars if I was you. Biggest traffic, offers everything and has games load up quickly, lot more average players too. Reliable and one of the only respected poker sites left. DiegoD
The thing I like about 888 is that it has a few tournaments marketed at Australians. I might look into PokerStars later as well. As for live games, Its slim picking in the area I live (mainly freerolls) or travelling over an hour to Sydney's main casino.
AndyM3000
Ah I didn't notice you were in Australia. Yeah, they still have so much running that you will find games going all the time. Live poker must be a pain, I cant even be bothered to go into town here to play most the time. I heard the Star City casino in Sydney is suppose to be one of the best though. VBM
I plated online solidly from 2003-2009 The games are so shit now it hurts me. There is still some money to be made but the easy money has long gone now sadly. If you want to win there is a lot of work involved. Get to Two Plus Two forum and read some beginner strategy. DiegoD
^^ What has made poker so shit now?
AndyM3000
It has got worse, but its still very profitable game if you can get to a decent level. The games a few years ago were generally full of poor players, then people started talking on forum etc and getting a lot better, training sites became very popular. There are more regs that play very low stakes for a living and who are generally solid players who dont have massive leaks. Before, most of your money just came from weak players who made tons of mistakes, but now you have to focused and play a number of hands, study to figured out a decent players weakness. Theres still fish, you just have to find them.
VBM
aye but when you find them they is an army of 22/19 players surrounding them. Even people at 0.5/10c use HEM or PT these days. HU is still very profitable if you have the mental strength to deal with the swings
