CI
Had a meeting in Brum yesterday (a rarity for me), anyway we finished early and I took a stroll round some of the old haunts, Edwards Nr 7/8, Sam Wellers, The Dome. Ended up near what was Stakis - now Gala Casino. Randomly, I decided to go in and join and then hit the Roulette table. Place was full of Chinese (no change there). Played for about 2 hours, was down quite a bit but clawed it back and just broke even. Anyone got any strategies for roulette?
GarethRDR
Anyone got any strategies for roulette? Having never lost any money whatsoever on roulette, I feel my particular tactic is quite useful; to not play. 8)
Stevo985 Posted November 18, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted November 18, 2011 I once won £220 at a casino playing the most boring Roulette strategy ever. I just bet on 2 out of 3 of the columns. i've tried it since and it's failed so obviously it was more luck than strategy. I was so chuffed after that though! CI
I understand that the odds are against you and that clearly if you play long enough you will lose, so it's all about short term hit and run Incidentally that was my first casino visit for about 5 years, may go back later today mind
kidlewis
spread small bets over 3-4 numbers each time, or put 3-4 numbers in first two columns and bet on the third to claw some back. it's obviously pure luck but spreading them is a good way to go. spread over numbers then you win big. kidlewis
I have only played roullete twice before in a casino, but both times were with my girlfriend who has done it in vegas on holiday before I met her and we played for about 3 hours each time on the tables. Stevo985 Posted November 18, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted November 18, 2011 A strategy a mate of mine uses is to divide the wheel into 3rds and memorise the numbers on one of those thirds, then bet on all of those numbers. That way the ball only has to land in that third for you to win.
tonyh29
Played it in a hotel in Quito , set my limit at $20 and that was it , i don't mind drinking and whoring my money up the wall but hate loosing it on something like random gambling , was up to about $40 at one point but soon lost it all ...didn't seem any fun to me tbh ..least Poker has an element of skill to it , along with a lot of luck the locals were chucking coins on pretty much every square , they would be up 100's of $ then down again and then invariably off to the ATM and back again .. I doubt it ended well for them
Stevo985 Posted November 18, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted November 18, 2011 Yeh it's mental the amount people put on. I was at the Casino at the Ricoh not so long ago and people would come up with literally thousands of pounds, change them to chips, and withint minutes it was gone. Occasionally someone would do it and win, but you know they'd lose it all agina after. If I ever gamble, which is rare, half of what I win stays in my pocket and I gamble the rest

kidlewis
I am quite good at doing something like gambling. only bet what you are willing to lose. I only bet £5-£10 on villa games for us to draw and lose. if we win I am happy and I don't care I lost £5-£10. however if we lose I always make more than I put on and if we draw I generally get my money back. I may also bet on our defenders to score as well to get a nice £12 off £1 bet.
lapal_fan
Shillz that it cheating and you could go to prison for it. If you were ever caught doing that in a casino you would be taken out back and beaten with a claw hammer. Seriously mate, even though you probably did with a couple of quid on a tv roulette, you're playing a very risky game.
Shillzz
Whoops really?? OK, im gonna replace my post with "I never gamble" in the interest of keeping Limpid at bay (already in his bad books).
Rodders
yeah, I've done well off Roulette but crucially I know its luck and when I hit a profit total I just scram. Went through a spell in Uni of going once a month ( no more! ) and going in with a tenner and coming away with 60-150 quid depending on luck - mostly just doing red or black, though one time I had a fiver on one number which came in 8) but yes, go in make your profit and **** off. Do not chase losses, if you've lost, tant pis, never mind, try again in a month or twos time. Favourite memory was agreeing to go the cinema with some friends which was next door to the casino. I was in and out of the casino in 5 minutes £50 to the good I enjoy the sense of "free" money which if I went back within days I'd likely lose and it'll be for nothing - but it is understandably a seductive notion of more more etc. Discipline with gambling is key. I learnt that from too often losing at online poker
lapal_fan
Its impossible to lose with that strategy yea Well done for accidently figuring it out though!
Risso
My rule on gambling is that I allocate myself an initial amount, say £100 orwhatever, and thenonce it's gone, it's gone. The odds in roulette are of course tipped in the houses favour by the inclusion of the two green zeros. Over a thousand spins, if you bet red or black all the time you'd roughly expect to come out even. The zeros give the casino an edge of just over 5%, which is why no systems will ever work. The only chance you have is to get lucky over a short time. I won a few hundred quid once by just betting on red or black after a few consecutive spins of the previous colour, but I was drunk, feeling stupidly brave, and realise that it was all just a lucky streak. Brumerican
Bet on red or black and then keep doubling your stake until you win . Then walk away .
