blandy Posted November 7, 2011 Moderator Share Posted November 7, 2011 Is Harry Potter an actual potter? you know - with clay vessels and glazes and one of those wheels and all that? I suspect not. Therefore it's all a load of made up.

MrDuck
Those Harry Potter books can't be trusted to be honest. Rowling translated them from ancient Esperanto, and it seems pretty clear that in doing so she was politically motivated to alter them to suit her own agenda. Search out the original Potter scriptures for a very different story.

Eames
That Man-Suk gets about a bit, don't he? You read the whole list of names looking for comedy and skipped right on over "Ken Cummings" I'm looking forward to his joint paper with the gentleman above just so I can see "Man-Suk Cummings et al" in print. Wainy316
A friend of mine named Cummings tried to convince me that someone in her family married a Mr Sidebottom and opted for a double-barrelled name - Cummings-Sidebottom. I don't believe it but I want to.
Amsterdam_Neil_D
The Harry Potter books are actually a copy of the Star Wars basic story. So whilst I accept Potter is a good old story(even copied), Star Wars actually happened a long, long time ago.

Pelle
Thought Star Wars was set in the future? Nope... And how could it be? I mean, if it was yet to happen then Lucas couldn't have told us the story about what happened in that other galaxy far, far away. He's not Nostradamus, just a guy who met a man from another world who told Lucas about their incredible history.

Scotty's widow unveils exhibition A plaque and exhibition commemorating the 'future' birth of Star Trek star James 'Scotty' Doohan in Linlithgow has been officially unveiled by his widow. Wende Doohan, the widow of actor who played the SS Enterprise's chief engineer, was at the occasion to uncover the memorial. The Canadian actor died in 2005, but calls have since been made to organise a tribute to his fictional hometown. The plaque and exhibition is located in Annet House Museum in Linlithgow. Scripts from the original series reveal that the Scottish character, Montgomery Scott, was born in Linlithgow on 28 June, 2222. BBC
CrackpotForeigner
It's simply far too early to be claiming that Harry Potter is true. The real test will be to wait a couple of generations until hardly anyone can remember who he was. Then a few people can write some extra stories with a couple of really super duper extra magic tricks this time around. (For example perhaps he could get horribly killed, and then fly into heaven with the pink fairy princess on a magic horse a few days later). Only then will we know who the true believers are, and anyone who disagrees will simply be trying to discredit the undeniable TRUTH that has been clearly written for all to see. A.J.Rimmer
Great thread. I steered clear of the other as I've done a few of them over the years and finally gave up. The odd thing is, when nowadays I have to engage these morons, I always ask them if they believe in Harry Potter too.... strange coincidence.
