jon_c
Capello needs to grow a pair of bollox and leave him out of the Euros squad He needs to leave him out of the squad, 'cause he is an incredibly average and vastly over rated player. kurtsimonw
So somebody who has played over 300 times for Chelsea and about 70 times for England only looks good next to a capable partner?? And then you name Alex Yeah, but he plays for a club nobody likes remember. If you play for Chelsea and England you're automatically hated and 'overrated'. Lampard gets the same stick, what the ****. Pretty sure you don't captain a club to 3 league titles and a Champions League Final if you're 'average' or 'shit'. Especially as they've mostly been a team built on their defence (In the Jose years, anyway).
Rino8 Posted February 1, 2012 Visiting Supporter Share Posted February 1, 2012 Terry's similar to Dunne, just better. Great box defender but since the new Chelsea have started playing higher he has struggled to be anywhere near as good. If you put him at a club that defends like Arsenal he would look pretty poor. Being forced to pair up with Luis doesn't help though.

coda
Isn't the excuse for the timing that they may need players as witnesses? It stinks.
The_Steve
Well Rio was banned from the England squad even before the hearing into his missed drug testing. The hypocrisy stinks - Terry isn't that great. Him and Upson at the World Cup had the traction of two tractors. We'd get destroyed again by quick attacks. theboyangel
Isn't the excuse for the timing that they may need players as witnesses? It stinks. But footballers mainly ply their trade (barring a little bit of training) on a weekend - Courts are run on a Monday-Friday basis! So realistically no problem for any footballer to give his evidence! What about any other 'civillian' witness called to court, most of them have to miss work to give their evidence. It does stink and I also think Terry has missed a trick by not offering to step down from being Captain... an offer can always be refused and it would do his PR some good. Surely any Captain would want the focus of the Championships to be on the team and not an individual (especially if it's themselves) but then again, this is the media whore Terry in the spotlight. I really hope the FA make a stance and drop him as Captain (at the very least) - surprised there hasn't been an e-petition or something yet! As an English football fan - I do not want this man representing our country, especially as Captain.
TRS-T
An Italian. To take a stand on racism. You can't say that, it's racialistic! Italians are proper racist. They don't want Balotelli to play for Italy (even though he was born and raised in Europe) because he doesn't have "Italian blood".

It would be an admission of guilt if Terry resigned the captaincy. This is going to mess up England's slim chance of performing well in Poland/Ukraine. I can see the tabloid headlines already about rifts in the squad come June.

I can see the tabloid headlines already about rifts in the squad come June. Why would it be an admission of guilt?? Surely the Captain should put team and Country first??? By stepping down (IMO) would show understanding of the situation and he could concentrate on his own game (let alone issues) and not hinder the national team. you're right, this will damage our already slim chance of doing well in the Tourno. Hopefully he'll pick up a knock and miss the whole thing anyway (the conspiracist in me believes this could happen as a 'cover up' to save everyone's faces from Terry to the FA!)
