You can legally be sexually active at 16, in a consensual relationship with another 16 year old but send a dick pic and you’re both possessing/distributing child porn. In England ( and Wales ?) they added a sub clause called outcome 21 to the law back in 2016 , basically saying it should be recorded as a crime but its not in the public interest to prosecute and anyone reported would not be classed as having a record for vetting purposes

I often see people saying things like "The victims' parents/loved ones should be allowed to choose - or even inflict - the punishment". Horrifically wrong. The law has to be formal, consistent and dispassionate. It doesn't always achieve those aims, but the principle is correct. 'An eye for an eye' is not the way to go.

Easy for us to say this though as emotionally if this happened to anyone you don't know how you feel until you are in that position. Hopefully none of us ever will be

Au contraire - I known exactly how I'd feel - massively emotional, irrational, probably homicidal. Which is precisely why I shouldn't be allowed to interfere with the dispassionate legal process.

That does tend to happen here.

If someone abused my child and I got hold of them I’d do them some damage. If someone abused your child I’d want them to get severely punished by the law. 4

You would hope the law is tough on these cases

Historically you could be in porno mags or pose on page 3 at 16. Linsey Dawn McKenzie was one such example. There was even a countdown to her 16th birthday in one tabloid, so they could show her tits on page 3. Its my understanding that if you own any of those magazines, they are classed as illegal now. The age of consent may have been 18 back then I’m not sure but if it was 16 then there’s that grey area where it’s perfectly legal to sleep with a 16 year old but illegal to watch porn with a 16/17 year old. Mark Albrighton Posted July 31 VT Supporter Share Posted July 31 For those who want to know what he has pleaded guilty to. Quote Huw Edwards, once the BBC's most senior news presenter, has pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children. He admitted having 41 indecent images of children, which had been sent to him by another man on WhatsApp, Westminster Magistrates' Court heard. They included seven category A images, the most serious classification. Until last year, Edwards was one of the main presenters on BBC One's News at Ten and often fronted coverage of major national events. He was arrested last November and charged last month. He will be sentenced on 16 September and a probation report will been compiled. BBC link
Mark Albrighton Posted July 31 VT Supporter Share Posted July 31 In addition to the above, there were also 12 Category B images and 22 Category C images. These are really just terms to me. I don’t particularly wish to learn the difference between each category but I’m sure it can be learned for those who do.
