lapal_fan
Also remember him joking about telling his about his brain tumour. He told them and one of them turned around said 'paddy, but you haven't got a brain'

Anthony Posted October 24, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted October 24, 2011 I think he was about 26 for whoever asked. I remember him posting here about a call in show he rang up and told them about how good villa were letting him use a box for the season because of finding out about his illness when he'd already bought a season ticket.. he was so chuffed about that. He was also embarrassed about how many times he said a certain word (like 'y'know' or something). That story always made me smile. I did wonder a couple of months ago why he'd not popped in to say how he was getting on.. I can only imagine what he and his family were going through, these things dont usually come as a suprise.. which is both good and bad. I can only hoped he lived his last days as he wished to. Despite not knowing him, I always felt like we'd get along, I dont get that much reading messages people put on the internet, but you could genuinely tell he loved his football, and cared very much about Aston Villa Football Club. I will miss him, as will many others - who will probably have more to miss about him. I wish my greatest condoleses to his family and friends. Rest In Peace Paddy, it was a pleasure reading your opinions.. I remember ripping that show from iplayer and converting it to mp3 for him. I enjoyed the show and ended up phoning in myself the following night. Also bought a Pure Evoke Flow mostly on his recommendation. Rest in peace old chap. AVFC_Hitz
Rest in peace. Let's hope his last hours were peaceful and painless. Always sad to lose people to cancer. Horrible horrible illness. My thoughts go out to his family.
tonyh29
Not very good with words so I'll borrow some from Paddy as a (hopefully) fitting tribute of the sort of guy he was It's been tough, but I wouldn't describe it as a battle. There's really very little you can do other than sit back and wait for these incredible treatments to do their job. I've not been brave, I hate the word brave. Someone who throws them self in front of a bus to save someone else is brave. People say I've coped with it well, better than they would have done. But do you ever hear a cancer patient described as coping with it badly? I never have. As Jenni Murray said, in the best description I've read of how I feel about this whole thing. "You're not being brave, you're just coping with the unavoidable in the best way you can". That sums it up perfectly for me.
Pilchard
There's nothinig more I can add really other than echo those above. Awful news, really sad. I met him once - accidently. When I sat in the Holte Upper during one paricularly dull game (that was lightened up by a pigeon landing on a bloke's head in front of us) we got chatting to the bloke next to us and it turned out to be Paddy. Top bloke - he was on VT right from the beginning of it all and was one of the (rare!) users that never caused any bother at all. RIP Paddy. BangkokVilla
Rest in peace Paddy, my condolences to your family and loved ones. With myself being a perennial VT lurker, we never exchanged views much but I was always moved by the courage, dignity and positive outlook in your posts during the course of your illness, you remain an example to us all.
