Player evaluation, scouting, training methods and rehab. what a **** joke this is. what makes this whole thing even worse is the fact that the Cleveland browns are **** shit and always come bottom of their league. Aston villa are the biggest joke in the premier league. i don't know if its true but somebody told me mcleish was ordered by lerner to go and learn from the browns head coach! If that's true then lerner must be thinking that mcleish and his coaches are not doing things correctly. :?

What airline is he going by or will it be private charter?

Either way, would it be at all possible to slip the airline a few quid and make the plane 'vanish' into some rain forest in Brazil?

What a complete waste of time. This break from the Prem would have been better spent sorting the ginger turds P45 and finding someone who can at least navigate their way into the oppositions half during a game.

I can imagine the meeting now...

AMC 'So, what is that big bit of field there?'

Browns Coach 'That's where our players try to get into and score touchdowns'

AMC 'You let your players out their own half??!!'

This club is at an all-time low if our chairman thinks anything can be 'learnt' from his shit franchise.

Guess your all discussing AM going over to the US lol.. i really don't see the point in this.. he should be working on getting the team ready for what is his most important next couple of games, What good is going to come of him going over to the US and talking with the coach of a team that is one of the worst in the NFL.. great

The visit at the suggestion of Lerner underlines the close relationship McLeish has developed with the chairman since taking over as boss in June 2011.

The pair either phone or email each other each day and also enjoy a close relationship when the chairman is over in the UK, which he has been regularly over the past few months

The same was said of the relationship between MON and Lerner, almost word for word

I do hate the BS PR that the OS comes out with sometimes, it's cringeworthy at best. 'Some managers may take time off... but not Alex!' Ah right, that must explain his fantastic track record in the top flight; fool on Man Utd, Man City, etc. for not following his shining example. And yes, let's fly him out to talk with a team who haven't won their division since the 80s and have featured in the playoffs just once since the early 90s.

Not sure if this has been posted. Found it interesting. From a motherwell fan on a football blog

McLeish’s biggest asset is his media friendliness. Nothing negative sticks and only his successes are ever mentioned in articles like this.

When he took over at Motherwell, we had a great side and finished 3rd in the league the season before he arrived. Finishing second wasn’t the achivement it’s painted as, Celtic were in complete disarray at the time and Rangers were struggling at the end of their 9 in a row era. He broke our budget, pay structure and youth system in the process and left a successful, financially healthy club broke and at the bottom of the league. He jumped at the first offer that came along (as he’s done several times).

Sure he won the 1st division with Hibs but with a budget many times greater than every other club in that division and a squad of over 50 players at one point. He also left them broke and at the bottom of the league when he high tailed to Rangers.

At Rangers, he presided over the worst run of results in their entire HISTORY. 11 Matches without a win. That last day league win mentioned actually occurred as a result of Motherwell’s Scott McDonald scoring two goals in the last 5 minutes against Celtic to beat them 2-1 and allow Rangers to win the league.

As Scotland Manager, he took over Walter Smith’s reasonably successful side mid-campaign and did OK until he changed the team and tactics in an away match in Georgia where we were utterly hopeless against a team with 3 players under 18 in it.

He ditched Scotland without a backwards glance after 8 Games to join Birmingham City who he managed to get relegated twice (any other managers allowed to keep their jobs in those circumstances?) and built teams that are the lowest scorers in the division.

As soon as the chance arises he abandons them having dumped them in the Championship and joins their biggest rivals. He’s already getting his his excuses in early having been quoted as saying he can’t compete in the transfer market with the “big” clubs. That must have come as a complete shock to him?

His MO at club level is to keep signing players and hope something happens. You won’t see much youth development, that’s for sure, just overpaid, mediocre foreigners. Every club he’s managed has been left poorer and in poorer shape after he’s finished but the media will make sure he ends up at Chelsea or Man U (who he’ll dump to take over at Man City because they have more money).

Yeah, great manager.

I think you are spot on. McLeish is going nowhere. Certainly not in the short - medium term.
That's probably right, but who knows what will happen? We could easily go on a shit run and only just stay up this season and then start off the next season in the same pathetic, gutless manner. Couple that with the expected plummet in ST sales and I think they'll have no choice but to get rid within the next 12 months. McLeish was a dead man walking as soon as he stepped into the job. Not because of his former employers, but because he's a shit manager who's comfort zone is ultra negative anti-football. Fans at this club just won't have that.

Chief executive Paul Faulkner said: "'When the fixture schedule allows for a break, such as this upcoming weekend, some managers may take time off to refresh ahead of the busy run to follow.

"Not for Alex. He is keen to do everything he can to push Villa forward.

Ridiculous to put McLeish's name and "forward" in the same sentence!

Obviously they aren't going to talk about specific tactics of either sport, but perspectives on man management, preparation, use of video, etc. could be beneficial to both sides. I think it would actually be criminal if Aston Villa and the Browns did NOT take advantage of each others resources.

**** good job they aren't if he's sending McLeish - it would be a pretty short conversation.

Maybe he is going to try and flog them James Collins as a specialist kicker - his aimless punts down field might appeal to our US cousins?

They'd soon realise where we was when negative football starts spreading through Brazil.

To be honest, it's never been to the point before where I've wished our manager would come a 'cropper' somehow.

In America, is it legal to shoot someone if they are attacking you? Saying that, telling a court that you were attacked by Mcleish would see the jury in fits of laughter.

I see Wolves are wanting to speak to Curbs. Steve Morgan has been reading my posts, asshole.
