You can never go wrong with this gem 🍻

‘Phones on, doors open to the garden, Cortez The Killer.

Waiting for the bats to show up and start doing their thing.

I’m not the biggest fan, my record shop has been trying to convert me for years as it’s her sort of thing. I’ve got a couple of others albums and that feels about enough for me. Prices for his stuff always look a bit high.

I’ve got The Times, and Live Rust. Of the two, I prefer The Times.

It’s sort of on the edge of my taste, and the little I know of Young (I’m absolutely no expert he’s mostly passed me by), he appears to be a slightly grumpy moody kind of person? Maybe?

I’m much more a John Prine kind of guy when it comes to anything vaguely Americana.

🤣 just a bit. It’s kind of his “thing”

if you prefer The Times to Live Rust I can’t help ya 😜 of all the records of his to have I never expected you to name that one. If you made me guess the three Neil albums you had I would never gotten that one.

John Prine is of course a certified legend. If that’s your approach you might like Harvest, Harvest Moon, and After the Goldrush. Not saying they are totally similar, but definitely up the same(ish) alley

After the one track, Cortez, it was the album Harvest I think I was interested in. Not that I’ve knowingly heard it, I just knew of it and fancied the 70’s artwork. But it was covid, it wasn’t in stock and the others were. I’m not really much in to live albums. I think three albums is about enough for now. Far too much new stuff to discover at the moment to be back cataloguing. I’m also, luckily, not someone that needs to get complete sets of anything, so I’m happy that one day off in the future I’ll find a good copy of Harvest at a sensible price. Then I’ll listen to it and find out if I like it.

Harvest is definitely the smoothest on-ramp for an introduction to Neil. For most people if that one doesn’t do the trick then nothing will.

Wand - Vertigo

First album for 5 years (I think)

Love this band, this is the third record of theirs I own and there’s no unifying sound between them but the singer sounds a bit like a Thom Yorke (Who?) It’s very much Alt Rock but they really should get more attention. I get Radiohead vibes but others always look at me blank when I say it. Not as complicated as Radiohead but still in that vein.

Theres another thing that’s great about this, there is only one vinyl version and one CD. That’s it, no coloured vinyl no special editions nothing, here’s the album, on black wax, get on with listening to it.

Quoting yourself is bad form generally but…. this has been on heavy rotation for the last two weeks (much like its predecessor was at the time). It is a seriously good album
