In that you can release a new vinyl album of new material for between a tenner and twelve quid, and he's already done well out of those Zeppelin records, and there's no production costs to the music because its already on the shelf, I expect that set will be around the £40 to £50 mark...

Unless of course, this is just a product and the accounting people need to work out the market value and asset realisation point on the elasticity of supply and demand graph. If it's done that way, then its north of £120.

Is it a money maker? Well the guys are loaded already. Personally, I just think it's Page struggling to let go of the Zeppelin, and let it fly off. He craves the band, and it's his baby. One for the collectors no doubt, but it will cost them, that's for sure. Come on guys, just one more tour.

Well, if it's for the love of the band, it'll be fifty quid.

If it's a money making thing, it'll be a big number. Let's see.

Bollocks to crazy prices. It costs that much because some people will pay it. I guess, best of luck to them, I guess they're buying a nice 'thing' in the same way I'll pay an extra fiver for the vinyl on top of the mp3. But I'm just not in to that end of the market. It's not that I don't have a hundred quid, it's the principle. Why on earth should the U2 or Neil Young or Queen industrial machines get that kind of money with another re repackage of something 40 years old. Every £140 to Bob Dylan stifles the sales of 10 wannabe Bob Dylans. Which feels a bit ironical?

I'm going to a gig in a couple of weeks where the gig and a copy of the new vinyl album and a chat with the band is costing £25. When I saw Selector Dub Narcotic back in the summer, £20 for vinyl album, a pin badge a gig and a chat. Really makes you wonder how on earth someone producing very low numbers of units can do that for £20, when an Iron Maiden mass produced repress product is £30 just for the record. Piracy is killing music, as they say.

I guess I could have used that gig money as a deposit on a re release of something nice in a box with a booklet.

But, absolutely each to his own. I'll happily pay £4 for a coffee in a non recyclable disposable cup, so I'm in no position to throw moral high horse stones!

I think it was @Xann that said picture discs ain't always top notch quality.

This one's particularly grindy sounding between tracks. Sounds like the needle's cutting a new groove every time.

Still got some tunes on it though. First copy of Plastic Letters that I had was from whatever the american version of a NAAFI was over in Germany in about '78/'79. I'd like to say I was super cool and spotted the next big thing. Reality is, my uncle in the RAF in Zweibrucken bought it, didn't like it, so gave it to me.

I'm going to take a punt on that @mjmooney would like the album above.

Probably. I know it's regarded as something of a classic, but I've never bothered to investigate. Other priorities.
