Nor-Cal Villan
50th anniversary edition, hot off the press. I generally don’t mess with GD studio albums, but they know their market and have released full live shows (mostly ones that never circulated in trading circles) on every 50th anniversary album so far, meaning hardcore Heads like me purchase things we normally wouldn’t
PieFacE Posted June 26 VT Supporter Share Posted June 26 Frog in Boiling Water from DIIV Really wasn't keen on the album on maybe my first 5-10 listens but now I can't stop listening to it. Definitely a slow burner but it's exceptional work. Every time I listen to it a new hook grabs me that I hadn't noticed before which are generally the best type of albums. Very shoegazy too. Just not Trout Mask bloody Replica, the one that's supposed to be the masterpiece. It's unlistenable. 1

I guess I should check them out on Spotify... EDIT: My, they have a lot of live albums. First impressions: inoffensive enough, I suppose, but nothing special. I think they are sometimes described ... and let me make sure I get the phrase right here ... the worst band on earth. Probably not even close. Sort of a mid-90s upper-middle-class college jam band. Big with fraternities in America a long time ago.
