mjmooney Posted July 13, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted July 13, 2012 Only one Chicago album worth a hoot, and that's the first one. Me? Bit of Coleman Hawkins and Ben Webster.
rjw63
Only one Chicago album worth a hoot, and that's the first one. Me? Bit of Coleman Hawkins and Ben Webster. I disagree - I have all of their albums (all bar about 3 on vinyl) and they've done some cracking stuff. Anyroad, next on the turntable:

Designer1 Posted July 13, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted July 13, 2012 A massive departure from the usual MDB style, but absolutely superb imo. Basically it's an album full of old MDB riffs and arrangements re-written with a classical orchestra instead of the guitars and the usual Doom/Death vocal replaced with far more subtle voices (with some beautiful female backing vocals). It's been on heavy rotation since the end of last year. Fantastic to chill out to.
mjmooney Posted July 14, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted July 14, 2012 Hmmm, Lindisfarne. I like those first two albums, I must admit. You seem to be in a bit of a semi-folkie/acoustic phase Rob, what with that and Roy Harper. I don't think you'd have any trouble with Nick Drake. Gillz
not sure why but i found myself wtaching R Kelly's 'Trapped in the closet' which of course meant i listened to all 22 chapters once i remembered how crazy it was. To remedy the situation i put on the raconteurs 'Consolers of the lonely' and the world seemed a little better.
