theboyangel
Unknown Mortal Orchestra - Multi-Love A bit more synthy (and shades of early Prince) than their first couple of albums but pretty good on first listen. Looking forward to the trip to Brum in September to watch them! Edited July 18, 2015 by theboyangel

mjmooney Posted July 18, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted July 18, 2015 (edited) Pretty disappointing. That's three piss-poor albums on the bounce from Neil, now. He seems to have completely forgotten how to write a decent song. Edited July 18, 2015 by mjmooney

mjmooney Posted July 18, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted July 18, 2015 (edited) Seems like quantity over quality. He seems to release something every 12 months Yep. And it's all heavy-handed eco-preaching. Nothing wrong with that, per se, but instead of crafting it into a powerful lyric and working out a good musical arrangement, it just sounds like he's recorded a bit of drunken haranguing and slapped it over some sloppy Nei Young-by-numbers random strumming. In 1970 in response to the Kent State shootings he wrote "Ohio", in a rush of anger: Tin soldiers and Nixon's coming We're finally on our own This summer I hear the drumming Four dead in Ohio. Gotta get down to it Soldiers are cutting us down Should have been done long ago What if you knew her And found her dead on the ground? How can you run when you know? And the music was was driving and powerful. By comparison, his current stuff is like the work of a ten year old. If you don't like to rock Starbucks a coffee shop Well you better change your station 'cause that ain't all that we got Yeah, I want a cup of coffee but I don't want a GMO I like to start my day off without helping Monsanto Monnnnnn-sannnnnn-toooooooo Let our farmers grow what they want to grow From the fields of Nebraska to the banks of the Ohio The farmers won't be free to grow what they want to grow When corporate control takes over the American farm With fascist politicians and chemical giants walking arm in arm Edited July 18, 2015 by mjmooney

chrisp65
I've even been and bought a Che Guevara type hat, a kind of big satchel thing and a tee shirt with Vintage Hi Fi written on it, just so people know exactly what they're dealing with.... I might get flip flops tomorrow. Edited July 24, 2015 by chrisp65
