Dunno what you're talking about.

I have to wait for someone to talk about something Howard Jones or Nick Kershaw might have referenced.  It's a challenge at times I will admit.

The one and only Nick Kershaw  , that's a name I've not heard for a while

Wouldn't it be good if you never heard of him again.

If the UK was in a similar position to Ukraine (invaded by Russia and not protected my Nato) what would happen?  Let's assume we don't use nuclear weapons.

I am sure that our military would give a damn good account of themselves.

But would the general public flock to the cause?  How many foreign nationals would fight for us?  Would people seek refuge in Ireland and/or France?  How much of the UK would we be willing to lose?  Would we leave the Falklands and Gibraltar unprotected?  Which celebrities would grab a rifle? Who would shell St Andrews first?

I think some foreign nationals would want to fight for us, but in all honesty, by the time they get a sponsor and a visa and prove they have a regiment to go to they could be too little too late. Though on the plus side, the Russians would have to go through the same process and wouldn’t be allowed to exchange currencies on the ferry so unless the petrol stations of Kent are happy to take rubles and cabbages, they’d be ****.

On a slightly more serious note, don’t let the hype about non binary vegans fool you. I think we’d be ok. Nobody can possibly know if their own reaction would be fight or flight. But several of you would be welcome in the newly formed state of Cymruski.

Does anybody else use lines from films or tv shows when they talk in everyday life?

Not just random lines it's got to fit the message you're trying to relay, but you say the exact line in the voice or accent from the film.

Ever since Kevin the teenager was able to emulate Peter Higgs and say bollocks when he burped I have done so, my eldest lad does so now as well. I hope his children do as well. Mrs not overly impressed but that used to doing it could never stop

never actually watched it  .. i just watched  a clip on youtube and don't think its for me tbh , is it supposed to be a comedy it wasn't obvious   ?

Was it before Friends or a lazy TV exec stealing the format   cause the MO seemed to be identical

It's the anti friends. If I had to say a sitcom it was furthest from, it's Friends. That said Courtney Cox appears in an episode from the same year she started in Friends.

Working with machines that break down all the time I use 'Have you tried turning it off and on again?' and 'Are you sure it's plugged in?' in a dodgy Irish accent a lot.

There is a line from Erin Brockovich I quote often.

If someone says "is that all?"  I'll say "that's all you got lady, 2 left feet and **** ing ugly shoes"

I couldn’t disagree more. Friends is one of the sitcoms that were clearly hugely influenced by Seinfeld.

I mean they’re basically the same concept. Group of friends living in New York, a couple live in the same apartment block across the hall from each other.

Seinfeld did it better, but the style of sitcom is extremely similar. I’d wager if Seinfeld didn’t exist then neither would Friends

The schmaltz of friends I was thinking more of, the hugs, that sort of thing.

Chesney Hawkes would be Tony's specialised subject on Mastermind. He even goes to see him live :crylaugh:

As Penderyn single malt is made in Wales, shouldn't it be whiskey, rather than whisky?

Why’s that then?

Isn’t it just different spellings, not some sort of different process?

I could be showing extreme ignorance here.
