Milfner
Yeah, there are some enjoyable ones, such as that one, however there are too many where it's literally just impossible to complete the mission, or that a mission takes too long to complete. Ads
Even the glitches on MW2 were fun. I used to love playing FFA and smacking the insertion cheats. Great game.
Chindie Posted June 1, 2011 Author VT Supporter Share Posted June 1, 2011 It is just a fun game, even for all it's flaws. I never took it too seriously online - I was both not good enough at it, coming too late to it and not commited enough to it to take it that seriously, and so the flaws didn't overly bother me. Come to think of it, the only one that did was quickscoping, which was frustrating because it was quite so dumb and largely inescapable in any game mode. kurtsimonw
MW2 doesn't look so bad anymore. I had a go on COD4 and WAW earlier, both games are filled with players who have God mode, it's stupid. People calling helicopters/dogs in as the game starts when they clearly do not have 7 kills.
kurtsimonw
Details of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer modes have appeared, courtesy of a Kotaku source. According to the tipster, multiplayer will be split between traditional maps and co-op Spec Ops maps. As reported last week, the latter will include both a survival mode and mission-based stages. It's thought that around 20 maps are currently being worked on, though it's not clear how many will come with the game and how many will be offered post-launch as DLC. As with Modern Warfare 2, there are no plans to bring over Treyarch's zombie modes. Perks and killstreaks are back, with a number of tweaks. First up, you'll be able to earn team perks. No word on exactly how this will work but it would seem to tie in nicely with the new Elite social platform announced earlier this week. Details of four team perks were handed over by the source: Stopping Power: Increased bullet damage Blast Shield: Unclear Health Regen: Regenerate health over time Stun Protection: Prevent stunning from flash grenades In addition to those, there'll be a number of new standard perks, reportedly including the following: Blind Eye: This makes you immune to computer-controlled and player-controlled killstreaks. The pro version makes your launchers lock on faster and gives you extra bullet damage to vehicles. Assassin: This makes you immune to UAV, thermal, and heartbeat sensors. The pro version also makes you immune to CUAV, EMP and no longer shows your name in red or the crosshair in red when you're targeted. Point Guard: Every two assists count as a kill towards your killstreak. Dead Silence: You make no noise. Recon: Gives you a special kind of radar to spot enemies, most likely. We're not sure on this one. As for killstreaks, the controversial Tactical Nuke has apparently been ditched. In its place are a number of new additions, including: EMP Grenade: Temporarily takes out all area electronics Littlebird: A tiny remote-controlled helicopter Precision Airstrike: Calls in an airstrike on a targeted area Stealth bomber: Calls in a B2 Spirit to carpet bomb along a line designated by the player Remote Turret: A remote controlled turret Directional UAV: A UAV that can be directed into areas to scan for enemies Remote Mortar: Direct a mortar team using a zoomable camera view of the map to call in strikes Airdrop Trap: A booby-trapped airdrop Ammo Resupply: An ammo reloading airdrop Escort Airdrop: A protected airdrop Specialist Strike Package: This one remains a mystery to us Finally, the insider claims that, as with MW2 and Black Ops, there are no plans to support dedicated servers. The latest entry in the juggernaut FPS franchise launches on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 8th November. Take a look at our recent first impressions piece for more. Stevo985 Posted June 2, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted June 2, 2011 I should probably get around to buying MW2 Don't, it's shit. Too late, I bought it yesterday from Amazon (£8, bargain) My streak of being years behind everyone else in the gaming market continues! It's cheaper that way though

Milfner
I honestly couldn't really care less about the campaign, it's not the reason I buy the game. I buy it for the multiplayer, and it was horrific.

I buy it for the multiplayer, and it was horrific. Yea, we get the picture, you hate the game  The game is far from horrific as some of these Treyarch fanboys will have you know. Steveo, if you want a good singleplayer fps, try Killzone 3, brilliant game.
Stevo985 Posted June 6, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted June 6, 2011 Might give it a go, thanks. The campaign was decent on MW2, I just thought it was disappointingly short, and a lot of the bits were more like interactive cut scenes rather than an actual game. It may not have helped that i went straight in at "Hardened" so some of it was frustrating. But I'm the opposite of Milfner, I don't play much Multiplayer (on FPSs anyway) so the campaign is all I'm really bothered about.
Stu_The_Villan
Steveo, if you want a good singleplayer fps, try Killzone 3, brilliant game. The single player on Medal of Honour is very good. Multiplayer is shite though

I don't think i've said Treyarch make bad games, just that Infinity Ward have made the better ones. But then you get bullshit like what Milfner posted yesterday, saying the game is horrific, when it's not. It's got it's problems, but so has Black Ops, but it's no where near as bad as some go on. kurtsimonw
I wasn't calling you a fanboy, but I'd noticed you criticised the Treyarch games alot and didn't think it was right you call us fanboys when we criticise the IW games. As for him beng so far wide of the mark, not necessarily. While I agree with you that all games have problems, I can understand why people would think MW2s multiplayer is awful. While it was an enjoyable game for me at times, some of the classes you couldn't defend against. It's game-breaking stuff when someone can run that fast and launch at you with a knife. The way killstreaks were done was a huge mistake too, made it too easy for people. I reckon you probably needed to get less kills yourself, on average, for a Nuke in MW2 than you do a Gunship/Dogs in Black Ops. I'd imagine out of all the Nukes I got, I averaged about 10 or so kills myself, the rest were Harriers/AC-130/Chopper Gunner kills.

I couldn't care less who makes the games . All that matters is playability and for me , MW2 is a broken game compared to Black Ops. Both of them are fun games to play, but I think the standard of play is higher on BO, as it's more of a balanced game . Why is it that any time someone criticizes MW2 you throw your toys out of the pram, and have to resort to bollocks like "Treyarch Fanboys" ? MW" isn't horrific as a game....It's just awful when compared to BO. Both have flaws but the flaws in MW2 are massive and ruined the game. The flaws in BO aren't game ruiners.
