Mantis
Collins needs dropping. We both know that's never going to happen though, despite McLeish saying he would sort out the defence. :|
AVFCinSpain
I think we got suckered by 'arry. He got Hutton's replacement back from Villa, a better player for his time at B6 and then convinced AM to buy Hutton who 'arry wanted rid of. AM keeps singing Hutton's praises and saying he needs time to settle down, but IMO, he's just poor quality. Luke was a better RB and Herd should be selected before Hutton. It's difficult to see what Villa are doing to plug the goals against at set pieces, we can't defend a lead or set pieces, especially late in a game. The coaches need to kick Collins and Dunne's arses. The shortest player on the pitch being able to head a goal just about sums Villa up at present. steaknchips
Our defence should be; Herd(Lichaj)--Cuellar--Clark--Warnock. With a decent DM in front of them. Then in the summer look to replace/strengthen Warnock...Maybe Olsson from Blackburn would be a good choice?

Herd/Cuellar-Clark-Dunne-Warnock for me..
steaknchips
Clark and Cuellar looked better balanced and strong the 2 times ive seen them together. The trouble with Clark/Dunne partnership, is they both play on the left hand side of CB..It dosnt seem to work.
AdamLL
Still think he needs to improve his game, although I did think he looked better against Sunderland. A performance to build on hopefully.
Houlston
Clark and Cuellar looked better balanced and strong the 2 times ive seen them together. The trouble with Clark/Dunne partnership, is they both play on the left hand side of CB..It dosnt seem to work. The only reason Dunne plays on the left is because Collins and Cuellar, who he is partnered with, are weaker defenders and so the strongest defender is put on the left. Dunne is right footed and plays on the right side of defence for Ireland so given a run of games together, if Clark was good enough, the balance should work well. kayarcee
the question is why Collins also chose to run out leaving Wickham unmarked. To make matters worse not only did Collins run out he slid in like an over excited teenager meaning there was no way he'd get back. Add that to the second goal and then the lame attempt at defending against West Brom Collins needs dropping. This. It was pretty telling that for most of the second half, Herd was positioned almost as a third center back.
Zatman
Clark and Cuellar looked better balanced and strong the 2 times ive seen them together. One of them was against a Fulham team that didnt have an attack all game. Cant remember 2nd game they played it might have been vs a woeful Blackburn team in FA Cup when Pires was MOTM though could be wrong on that

CI
Surely Beye deserves another run out ? I don't recall him actually being THAT bad ?? I might start a campaign to get Beye back on

Zatman
then why isnt he playing or why did Cuellar on the bench ahead of him vs WBA or why did Lichaj start vs hereford and not Beye
foreveryoung
Cuellar is no answer I know that for certain. He has'nt played for a while and we all think he is our saviour instead of Collins. I think were dreaming, he is a SPL defender always had been, not good enough for premiership much to slow.
steaknchips
then why isnt he playing or why did Cuellar on the bench ahead of him vs WBA or why did Lichaj start vs hereford and not Beye You must of only been born yesterday if you think some managers dont have favourites. Hutton was signed and plays because McLeish likes him and knows him from his days at Rangers and Scotland. They are friends.

steaknchips
You must of only been born yesterday if you think some managers dont have favourites. then why did Houllier not play him last season when Young and Cuellar was out Because Houllier was building. There was no future in playing a 31 yr old average RB, whereas playing Walker, (and trying to sign him) or Lichaj was something Villa could benefit from in future seasons..
