Richard
Can anyone tell me a better centre half than this lad in his age in the country? Because I'm fooked if I can think of one. Huge future ahead of him.
tinker Posted December 17, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted December 17, 2012 Baker showed his worth to me in the second half of the Everton game, after Clark got sent off. He was a rock that day (well, half of it at least)
CrackpotForeigner
This quote from Garth Crooks in his TotW blog: "Did you know? Aston Villa have conceded one goal a game on average in the seven matches Nathan Baker has played this season, compared with 1.70 per game in the 10 he has missed." Really seems a legend in the making.
lexicon
If you take the Man City game out, how would the stats be affected?
CrackpotForeigner
If you take the Man City game out, how would the stats be affected? Well, let's see: He didn't play in that game, so if we were to pretend it never happened that would make it 12 from 9 games without him, or (using the supercomputer I have handy), 1.33333333333333333 goals per game. Yeah, it's just stats an' all, but 1.33 vs 1.0 is still enough to suggest he might be making a difference.
Demitri_C
We are "baking" a beast. this guy is a huge talent. I always thought clark would be the best CB but baker is looking a lot better

DamsonwoodVillan
Good shout Demitri. When Vlaar comes back I suppose if they're going with him as club captain then he will just get back into the side, but I would definitely drop one of the other 2 and not Baker. Baker has looked calm, strong and very good in the air. I fancy he could develop into an attacking threat as well from set-pieces. In my opinion the back 3 for the second half of the season should be Clark in the centre with Vlaar to the right of him and Baker to the left. Herd and Dunne are then good options as cover, and Herd could of course challenge for a midfield spot also.
AndyBM
i like the idea of rotating clark and baker for the lcb postition next to vlaar, however when would be the best time to drop one for the other? it could be a confidence knock either one of them
abdomlahor
Been very impressed with Baker. I would suggest that we have two of the most talented young central defenders in the league emerging.
Richard
Been very impressed with Baker. I would suggest that we have two of the most talented young central defenders in the league emerging. Plus two of the most talented midfielders and two of the most telented strikers. Plus a talented right back and talented goalie Talent all over the pitch
Woody1000
If I'm being honest, I'm more impressed with Baker than I am with Clark. He's a real presence in the air, and I can only see him getting better and better. Kudos to KMac and Sid for this boy's development.
The_Lions_Roar
Thought it was Osborne but who really cares? Woaaaa I wasn't saying it to say it should be held against him. Just remember he getting loads of abuse for it. Plus as he got banned from attending, would be great if he had the chance to play this time. LondonLax
Made some bad mistakes on Tuesday but I think that is down to inexperience. We shouldn't need to be relying on him, he is still learning.
