Milfner
He was terrible against Almeria too. (Can't believe I just said that)
The_Rev
Leo Messi's performance vs Almeria Almeria really just parked the bus. They got six or seven outfield players back into their own penalty area every time Barcelona went forwards and they were putting three players on Messi if he got within 30 yards of their goal. He still managed two goals and an assist!
Mr_Dogg
Scored again tonight, 48 goals for the season, a Spanish record. Old record set by Ronaldo I think but open to correction.
foreveryoung
Comon, the guys just class and he's only 23 maybe not at his peak yet. 48 goals this season so far is outrageous! some of his movement and goals are insane. My number1 by a distance at the moment.

Was 47 set by Ronaldo. Messi equalled it last year and now has gone past it this year. Unbelievable really. Only 23 as well.

BOF Posted April 12, 2011 Moderator Share Posted April 12, 2011 Ronaldo was only 20 when he set the record. Quite incredible. Maybe Messi is destined to discover El Burgero Kingo aswell then.
AVFC-Prideofbrum
Both are unbelievable and both are my favourite ever players. (that I've seen) 7 league games left and at least 3, maybe 4 cup games. Can't see him getting 60 because always tougher end of season but 55ish could be on which ain't bad I guess. The only hope is that if they have the league wrapped up then his team-mates might try to set him up to win the pichichi so they could still manufacture the 60 between them. Zatman
Dont want to sound critical of him as he has been brilliant but if he stopped trying to chip the keeper more often he could have 60 goals by now. He tried about 5 times over the 2 legs and succeeded with none

He tried about 5 times over the 2 legs and succeeded with none No, that's definitely true. He scores so many goals from that finish, that he tries it too often. It's quite frustrating actually because well I don't know about others but I'd love for a player to get around 60, so missing chances by trying to be too cheeky, you're thinking 'just put the ball in the net you cock!'.. BOF Posted April 12, 2011 Moderator Share Posted April 12, 2011 Yeah you're both right but then you're dealing with a guy who loves to do what he does. It's like asking Rooney to calm down. He'd lose something as a player if he did. It's an arrogance that he needs to have.

AVFC-Prideofbrum
Although that's the difference between a great goalscorer and one of the greatest ever. He is doing a lot as well as breaking goalscoring records!

Shillzz
The thing which makes Messi almost unique is that he is both a great scorer of goals and a scorer of great goals. You dont often get the 2 in the same player.
theunderstudy
Has a way to go to top some of the scoring records. Mullers was pretty special, although Messi is a better player.
