Frobisher
Even more exciting than Mass Effect 3 (IMO), the next Elder Scrolls is due out next November. I'm a huge fan of Bethesda games and this should be something pretty special. I may book the 11th November 2011 onwards off work now!
AV82
It's going to be a good year for games next year. With this, Gears, Mass Effect and the new Ghost Recon.
Designer1 Posted December 13, 2010 VT Supporter Share Posted December 13, 2010 Oblivion still remains the only game I have ever completed on two different platforms (PC and 360). If this lives up to expectations, and I can't see any reason why it wouldn't, then I foresee a shitload of hours being spent on it.

jacketspuds
Hopefully will have finished Oblivion by then. Will probably wait for a GOTY edition or heavily patched version before playing as I know the early Oblivion versions were riddled with bugs and the GOTY Oblivion is brilliant. PompeyVillan
Sequel to the best game ever... The world of Oblivion is the most amazing thing about the game. I love it. New Vegas has a similar feel to it, which is a game I have been massively enjoying recently.
hogso
I'll be getting this, and am pleased their using a completly new engine, but am somewhat torn about some of the other issues with the game. It'd be great if they fixed the facial animation and employed 100 voice actors instead of 5 but...there was just something about a beggar in the Imperial City asking you if you could spare a coin in a really crone-y old voice...and then replying in perfect RP when you did so
TheSufferingVilla
So damn excited, I can barely contain myself. Regardless of direction I'm sure Bethesda will produce a masterpiece for all but to satisfy the nerd in me and most other TES fans I'd love to see the following: 1. None of this gradual leveling crap, from the get go I want to be a weakling who ventures into a random dungeon and gets spanked simply cause the enemies inside are tough bastards with deadly gear as opposed to a couple of rats or crabs and damnit if I do get lucky and take them down I should be able to pilfer their stash of savage weapons and gear rather than waiting 20 hours into the game for such stuff to start becoming available. 2. Lets get away from this contained environment rubbish where every area has to load individually rather than gradually. The beauty of Morrowind/Daggerfall was simply being able to stroll in the front gate of a massive city and it's all there in front of you. Granted Morrowind had fog to mask the loading and Daggerfall had basic graphics and clipping but the limited urban environments of Oblivion in contrast to the vast open expanses of wilderness were a snap back to harsh reality and prevented the joys of levitation and wall climbing. 3. Fast travel, get rid please. I'd like to see more of a morrowind approach, caravans allowing travel from settlements, teleportation sevices between different mages guilds. Make it an effort with related expense to travel from one side of the map to another. 4. More effective use of lairs, It's great to build up your home and fill it with goodies but it would be better if there was more of a purpose to it. As soon as you kit out a place roaming gangs of thieves and bandits should want to target it and if they get in you should have to take it back by force or track down those who lifted your gear. Alternatively you should be able to set traps or hire thugs to stand guard.

I've gone back to Oblivion recently (after a good trudge through all of the modding forums) and have been playing it with a number of mods and a couple of them sort out (or at least get close to sorting out) the above (some of them are detailed on this bod's page). Anthony Posted February 5, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted February 5, 2011 Bought Oblivion and got about 20 mins into it and gave up - just didn't grab me at all and I generally like that kind of stuff. I'll give it another shot...
Stu_The_Villan
Yeah i think the first hour or so is what puts new players off. The create a character part is a bit overwhelming at first. You may even do what i did - create a character, get five hours in, realise character is shite and then start a new game. A bit of a slow starter but once you get past the opening of the game it grabs you by the bollox and doesnt let go. Stick with it.
Ingram85
It all gets better once you get out of the sewers, get the first few main story missions over with and have done a few side quests, the advice id give is do all that first then do a few guild quests to get a feel for the game. I think ive owned Oblivion about 3 times, for a game that came out nearly 5 years ago and with all its quirks and faults, it still amazes me and still looks fantastic imo. Skyrim will hopefully be the game that defines this gen of consoles for me, simply cannot wait.

Looking immense. Read the eurogamer preview, even at this middle stage, it sounds amazing. I like how the items/skills screens sound and i hope the animations are as improved as they sound in these articles. Roll on november!
Chindie Posted August 6, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted August 6, 2011 Special edition announced. It comes with the increasingly ubiquitous big dumb statue, a map, making of DVD and a 200 page art book. Oh and steelbook case I think. Looks nice. It's £130. **** that. Ingram85
Yeah its a tad pricey and low on content/tat, Bethesda really do take the piss at times. Ill be getting the normal version unless gamestation do what they did with the fallout 3 tin version and offer it for £25 around christmas time. I doubt it though. If it does come down to a reasonable price ill get it, say £70 absolute tops. Also, the quakeconn footage looks awesome, I simply cannot wait for this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ov2FTXRSxM
