mjmooney Posted December 21, 2010 VT Supporter Share Posted December 21, 2010 For the uninitiated: The Starry Plough banner was originally used by the Irish Citizen Army, a socialist, Republican movement. James Connolly, co-founder of the Irish Citizen Army with Jack White, said the significance of the banner was that a free Ireland would control its own destiny from the plough to the stars. This was flown by the Irish Citizen Army during the 1916 Easter Rising. (Wikipedia with a recalcitrant URL).

Cracker1234
Heavy snow forecast in the West Midlands from 9pm tonight though to 2pm tomorrow. Met Office I'll be looking out of my window at 9pm and if there is no snow falling I'll be emailing them telling them they're wrong or I could write a letter, that will make sure they get it right the next time. I will however do neither.

bickster Posted December 21, 2010 Moderator Share Posted December 21, 2010 Clip from a few years ago in Newfoundland. Never seen anything like this before. Frozen Waves I've never sen the sea freezing as the waves come in like that but I have seen the sea totally frozen with waves preserved in the ice. I think the place was called Jurmala just outside Riga nearly 20 years ago now. A frozen sea in just odd to look at
