AshVilla
Opportunity for financial security... Because his kids were on the breadline while he was at villa Yeah clearly the 2 - 5 mill he probably had in his bank account already was not enough
PaulC
Yes I agree with that. Think he should just shut up now. These footballers don't know there born. Kevin Beattie who was a great player, until his knees packed in lives off benefits now. Delph isn't fit to lace his boots. Qwpzxjor1
So last week, the move wasn't financially motivated. Now it was for financial security. Sounds like another bout of indecisiveness there Fabian.
maqroll
I guess the fact you guys are still going on about him, shows how valuable he was to the team. Theres a long thread about Paul Lambert too

Guest
I loaded up PES15 today, and wanted to make changes to Villa. Before I sent Delph packing I gave him a makeover. Childish I know!
Swerbs
I won't hold the fact he wants more money for his kids against him. He's still a snake in the grass though.

Oaks
He's clearly not a very clever guy. Nothing says this more than the hashtag #GodIsGood
Stevo985 Posted July 26, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted July 26, 2015 The stupid thing is, if he'd just kept his mouth shut or been honest this whole time, nobody would care. In fact, the £8m he effectively handed us by signing that contract would be seen as a good thing.
Popular Post TrentVilla Posted July 26, 2015 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted July 26, 2015 The irony is that he probably meant what he said about his affection for the club but money or ambition drove him to change his mind on the move. He will be vilified for it now by football fans and Villa fans in particular. Meanwhile Benteke who was tried to leave a couple of times and probably has less genuine affection for the club handled things a little better and will probably be applauded on his return. Funny old game as they say.
VillaForever1970
Daft as it may seem i honestly think the secret football article made him bottle it and change his mind.
DJ_Villain
If he really 'cared' about the club and its fans, he would do a Mellberg-like gesture and refund all of the shirt sales made with his name on the back after his bullshit 'loyalty' speech. AshVilla
But by doing that he would have to admit to being the lying snake in a grass word removed he is He wouldn't have the balls to do such a thing Edited July 26, 2015 by AshVilla
chrisp65
All that money, all that fame, all those back room staff at Man City, all those friends, family and hangers on. Yet nobody to advise him to just shut up.
Mic09
How would you feel if he went to the press and said 'I apologise' ? If he said he is sorry for the way it has worked out and that Villa is close to his heart and that he wishes it hasn't played out this way, however he just feels that this was the right career decision for him? villarule123 Posted July 27, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted July 27, 2015 He's already said that hasn't he? No matter what he says he is and will look like a cock anyway.
MakemineVanilla
Headline from The Mail on Sunday today "I did it for my kids": http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3174636/Fabian-Delph-says-family-forefront-decision-join-Manchester-City-midfielder-lifts-lid-Aston-Villa-exit.html No you did it for yourself! He does not have a lot to say about us does he? I always believed that it wasn't his own decision and that either his mother (known to be a mentor) or his wife, or both, nagged him into changing his mind. Even though it is they who would want the extra Wag status and money, they would always couch the argument in terms of 'think about your children and family'. Arguing for the benefit of a third party is a pretty unassailable position because the advocate can hide behind the pretence of selflessness, while accusing you of not loving your children, family etc. When he made his statements about loyalty, it is possible that he actually meant exactly what he said. So I would give him the benefit of the doubt.
omariqy
It was actually a chance for him say sorry to Villa fans for the way he handled it. But no he said we are in the past.
