bobzy
Biggest loss for our club for some time. Our most important player IMO? Nowhere near for me. Benteke and Guzan are far beyond anyone else at the club.
Tomaszk
He's not in the same class as Barry or Milner but we have a total shite squad now where we had at least a couple of players to soften when they left.

Supervillan78
Tottenham and Aston Villa are working on a swap deal involving midfielder Fabian Delph, 25, going to White Hart Lane with Spurs midfielder Lewis Holtby, 24, making the move in the opposite direction. Demitri_C
I would take holtby Delph swap. Good player and at least get something than losing Delph in a free But don't think any legs in that rumour
KSV
hope thats true. Better than nothing. Decent player.. different style of player to what we have.
Kingman
Not sure Delph would be an improvement on any of the rumoured clubs midfield. Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool. Edited November 23, 2014 by Kingman

ROTTERDAM1982
Prefer Dembele. Not sure about Holtby, never done enough to suggest to me he is anything special.A very similar player to Cleverley, not sure we would need both. I can see Arse looking at Delph, might prefer a swap with them.

Why on earth would Delph leave in jan when he can leave for free come the summer and get a tonne more cash?
suttonpaul
I agree with the last post neither player will move in jan unless the new club pays them what they could get in the summer it will be retarded
Thevillanofoz
Is Holtby out of contract at Spurs? I could see it, if it means it gets him off their wage bill and securing Delph. As for us, better than nothing, so would definitely take it. I'm assuming he wouldn't be on Stephen Irelandesque wages. Yes he's similar to Cleverley but we could then send Cleverley back and use the 8 mil to replace Delph, or, God forbid, buy a creative midfielder? suttonpaul
No idea on the contract but I would also take it if it were true. I'd guess his wages were circa 50-60k but that's par for the course
Keyblade
Holtby is in no way similar to Cleverley, and is the creative midfielder we've been crying out for. Would definitely take that deal if it came down to it.
HanoiVillan
What do people actually see in Holtby? He hardly turned around Fulham's last season.
Zatman
Biggest loss for our club for some time. Our most important player IMO? really? I think he makes a huge difference, our only midfielder who looks to drive forward with the ball and has the ability to ghost past players.

Without Delph we hardly break the opposition's midfield line let alone the defensive line. A driving run mixes everything up and creates spaces. While not an assist in the stats, these runs can be as important as a final ball in creating chances.
Zatman
I dont think ive ever seen a game in which Delph has ever grabbed it by the scruff of the neck and dominated midfield

It's been 4 years since I first started watching him play, not one incident springs to my mind of anything productive he has ever done.
