70% of my YouTube viewing is slot channels. I watch a lot of it, I watch a lot of YouTube channels that are gambling in Vegas as that's what I am interested in. I have been going to Vegas since 2005 and I have to say my total gambling spend amounts to probably $100 total in the 17 years. I like to watch others on slots but have no interest in spending my own money on them.

Gambling is just like many vices of this world including alcohol, junk food etc.. Its fine in moderation but some people cant moderate their use, gambling companies make most of their money off people with a problem.

I used to not be able to walk in a pub without playing the fruity, must haver lost a few thousand over a 10 year period, sickening really when you think about it. The amount of times i went to a pub for a couple of pints that cost me 50 quid i really lost count. OF course there was always the odd time you would stick a few quid in a couple of machines and walk about 150 quid richer that kept you coming back.

I'd been up to Manchester for the Stone Roses gig few years back   ... was drinking in the hotel bar around 1 am and my mate said he wanted to go to a casino , there was one near the hotel so off we went  ... he was in front of me and the lady at the desk said I'm afraid its members only , That's Ok i called out , I'll sign him in  .. she looked at me said , are you a member , laughed when I said "no"  and allowed me to fill in the form to sign him in .

My mate chucked £50 in a  slot machine , and after a while of boredom sitting next to him drinking beer  , i stuck a fiver in the machine as it was the only cash i had in my wallet  .. first spin it kinda came in with a couple of wild cards , then just seemed to spin away on its own for a few minutes and eventually my £5 was gone and collect winnings was flashing ...out came a voucher for £612

In my drunken state as we weren't members ,  I expected them to chuck us out and refuse to give me the money when i went to cash it , but in reality six hundred quid is nothing to them ,so i was just being paranoid

bought some drinks at the bar and my mate went and dropped another £50 on the machines

tbh I still have no idea what happened and other than  the enjoyment of the money , the actual slot machine part of it was pretty pointless and if i was going to get my kicks out of gambling it would be something other than slot machines  .. my mate lost £100 I know of , and I suspect more that I didn't  .. I just don't get it truth be told

This happened to me in Vegas.

First night stuck 20 dollars in a Wheel of Fortune slot machine. Spun the slots and it put me up onto this wheel with a load of numbers on it. 100 dollars, 250, 500 etc
I assumed it wasn't realy money and they were just points or something.

It landed on 350 dollars, I hit collect and out popped a receipt for 350 Dollars!

Put another few 20 dollar bills in over the next few days but won very little.

My mate suggested that the casinos may be so sophisticated these days that the cameras would have recognised me as a new customer and gave me a win to get me hooked. No idea if that's true though

I used to watch some, mainly a really annoying guy called Raja, I guess you know him.
The problem with these is that they generally only show you the wins (or an occasional loss to try and appear to be be balanced).

I saw one where they did some special event for a birthday or anniversary of the channel. $100k I think it was, and they were doing $1k spins.

They lost the lot very quickly.

There was a guy in the old Profit Squad group won over £70k from a single (£10) spin. Luckily it wasn’t on a promo with a win cap. That guy was like a machine, he was playing slots 16 hours a day, 7 days a week for years. No friends, no family, lived in a shared flat.

My best ever fare as a cab driver, no-one has ever beaten it on our firm, involved gambling.

I picked up at the flats facing the Albert Dock in Liverpool and took this middle eastern lad to the Leo Casino, it's on the same road and the journey including the mad not strictly legal U-turn you have to do to shorted the journey is exactly 1 mile

"You pray for me sir, you pray for me" (I refrained from pointing out that he really had the wrong person for this or that gambling isn't exactly what a good Muslim should be doing) - £100, 3 minutes work

I dread to think how much money he spunked at the tables that night but I got the impression that he didn't care and that it didn't matter as daddy's oil wells made more than he was going to lose every second of the day

My gambling these days is limited to the very rare lottery ticket and a few quid on the Grand National, sometimes.

He might be right , everything the casinos do is rigged to part you with your money and a nice win is a sure way to make you think you are on a hot streak

my theory was that if you hog the outer rings and play the small stakes tables at 50c a spin  they are sorta rigged for you to win ,  you'll easily turn $10 into $30 or $40  and you get convinced that you are the man to break Vegas  ... then with this new found belief you move in the middle to play the big boy machines and before you know it you've lost a few hundred bucks .

My last visit to Vegas I was downtown with some mates and sitting at the bar in the small hours  , this woman sided up to me said hello , explained how she'd lost around $400 on the slots  , felt dreadful and appalled at herself and was looking to earn some money ...  whilst i was thinking  to myself that prostituting yourself for money was probably going to leave her feeling even more appalled at herself , the Aussie bloke the other side of her at the bar took her up on her offer  ... As I was leaving the bar a bit later i saw her sitting at the slot machine ... addiction can be a terrible thing  , I'm kinda glad I don't suffer from it , not so sure I'd be able to sell my body  to pay for it

During my time of playing online casinos it’s amazing how many times a new casino would yield the most profits only to then be taken back quickly and then more. I don’t see how that’s possible while following the laws they have to adhere to but I can assure you I must have signed up to 50 casinos in 4-5 years and 90% of the time you would be up early on.

Met a few workmates, both current and ex, last night for a meal. Was great. I have missed social gatherings in the last couple of years, and have become a bit too isolated in recent times, and it was a good reminder I need to make more of an effort.

Me and a load of ex colleagues traditionally booked off the afternoon of the Thursday before Good Friday and go on an all dayer.  We're doing it for the first time in 3 years in April.  Will be messy.

So my daughter, age 14, and her friend rode their bicycles to the public library this afternoon, about 4 miles from home.   When it was time to leave, the cable combination lock for her bike was jammed and wouldn't open.  My wife calls in a bit of a panic asking what we have around the house that will cut through the cable.   I told her to go to the police station, which is right next door, and at least let them know that if anyone calls in about someone trying to steal a bike it's just her trying to get our daughter's bike unlocked, and maybe they'll have bolt cutters and can help.   They had no interest in helping.   So she goes to the fire department.   They were bored and were eager to help.   So they get on full gear and hop on the firetruck and drive the 500 meters and rock up to the library entrance and cut the cable for her.  I'm thinking my daughter's got a great story to tell people but she's embarrassed and won't tell anyone.

the funny thing is, I had a similar experience about 20 years ago.   I used to meet a friend for dinner on Friday nights in our small downtown and we'd carpool up to San Francisco to jam with some friends.  We got back at 1:00 AM and he pulled up next to my parallel parked car on the abandoned main street to let me out.  As i closed his door I hit the door lock button and unknowingly locked the entire car (he had gotten out to help me unload).  So he's locked out of his car.   I was going to drive him home to get a spare key, so we called the police department to let them know why there was a car sitting in the middle of the street with the engine running.  They said, "Oh, I bet the fire department can help.   Sit tight and we'll call them."    About 5 minutes later, this huge fire truck rolls up, lights flashing, with 4 firefighters in full firefighting gear.  They get his door open with a slim jim in 2 minutes and everyone is on their way.   It was probably the most exciting shift they'd had in months and they were chuffed to have a reason to get up off their couches and actually do something.  Sometimes it's nice living in a town where not a lot happens.

Nice to know the police and the fire department are both still as useful as they've always been though.

…from the chat about ‘comedy’ films, by far the funniest thing around at the moment is Radio 4’s Fags, Mags and Bags.

Probably takes an episode or two to get in to it, but the throw away lines are just gold.
