Xann
Sat in the park today. A couple of mums walked by, kids in tow. The adults looked thoroughly fed up. We were a distance from the car park, and one of the children seemed to be recounting every joke he knew. "What do you call a fly with no wings?" he says. There's short pause as mum realises she's expected to reply. Without looking at him she says in bored, received pronunciation "Disabled." I pissed myself. The lad looked disappointed and says "No. A currant" I continued pissing myself.

She sort of half thought it through and came up with an inadvertently non PC response in good comic timing. Sounding quite posh made it all the funnier.

So I thought I'd start a more positive one. About things that cheer you up or make you feel good when you've been a bit down. If this makes it even 100th as long as the 'things that piss you off...' thread I'll be amazed! So anyway what's happened to you recently that's cheered you up or made you feel good. Anything really. From an unexpected phone call from someone you haven't heard from in ages, to finding a fiver in your jeans that you'd forgotten about. Maybe you've got a holiday to look forward to. Come on people let's have some positivity! I'll start us off. I go to Germany on Thursday for 9 days, followed by a day at the Notting Hill Carnival. Last weekend my best mate asked me to be best man at his wedding. I kind of thought that I would be anyway, it's was always going to be me or one other. But just to hear him say it felt good. And then to hear him tell his wife to be that there was no way he was getting married at the World Cup in Brazil if I wasn't going to be able to go (insurance issues relating to my illness, same as not being able to go to this World Cup). Finally after tomorrow I get four weeks off chemo, which will be great (especially as it means I'm off treatment for the Germany trip. So we've all got miserable things in our lives (me more than most probably) so come on, let's hear something good in your life or something that's cheered you up recently. Hear, Hear for Paddy He was a pretty cool dude wasn't he?

I still regret narrowly missing meeting him at the Doncaster away game. Still got his number in my phone.

You get all the giggles and fun stuff, then you just hand them back to Mommy and Daddy for all the tantrums and poop. I really do have very little feeling for any kids other than my own. The gay fellah is Milo Yiannopoulos the British journalist mostly to be seen challenging feminist lies and propaganda in the media. The woman is Christina Hoff Summers, author of The War Against Boys, and known as the 'factual feminist' for her criticism of modern feminists. Here's her disputing the American women's soccer team's claim that they should be paid the same as the men:

maqroll
Quote President Obama is poised to declare the first-ever national monument recognizing the struggle for gay rights, singling out a sliver of green space and part of the surrounding Greenwich Village neighborhood as the birthplace of America’s modern gay liberation movement. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/white-house-poised-to-create-first-monument-to-gay-rights/2016/05/03/0811810e-1154-11e6-93ae-50921721165d_story.html?hpid=hp_no-name_no-name:page/breaking-news-bar I don't really like Obama, but I love this. chrisp65
I'm not sure giving someone the middle finger in an east coast park is the right way to celebrate gay rights. But, the more I think about it....
