BOF Posted September 3, 2013 Moderator Share Posted September 3, 2013 Killing wasps. I've had a re-think since this post. Little bastards terrorise our coffee breaks and you're taking your life in your hands going to a recycling centre at this time of year. There also definitely appears to be more of them this year than any year I can remember.

My kill count this year makes most Stallone films look like pacifist propaganda.
mjmooney Posted September 3, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted September 3, 2013 I've hardly seen a single wasp this year. Hundreds of peacock butterflies though.
BOF Posted September 3, 2013 Moderator Share Posted September 3, 2013 I think it's the same wasp terrorising our coffee break. It looks like the same one anyway.
Wainy316
I've hardly seen a single wasp this year. Hundreds of peacock butterflies though. Really? I've seen more at the end of this some than in recent memory. I did comment earlier in the year that wasp numbers seem to be dwindling but they've been out in force of late. BOF Posted September 3, 2013 Moderator Share Posted September 3, 2013 He actually looked me in the eye at one point from 2 inches away. Hovered down from above my head in a kind of "I could've stung your eye if I wanted to" menacing pose. Then I had a mini-spaz attack to get rid of him (may have spilled some coffee). Something about being stung in the eyeball doesn't appeal to me.

I've seen maybe three or four, but that's all.
CarewsEyebrowDesigner
They'll come later this year because we had a long winter. Around now to late September should be the peak, I think. But I ain't no expert. Edited September 3, 2013 by CarewsEyebrowDesigner
Wainy316
Wasps and Mosquitos are the only two species I would generalise to call 'complete and utter knobs'.

CarewsEyebrowDesigner
Mosquitoes don't go near me. Most of my family gets munched them. Not I. Slightly offended by it tbh. Edited September 3, 2013 by CarewsEyebrowDesigner

August was pretty poor though, so you could be right.
BOF Posted September 3, 2013 Moderator Share Posted September 3, 2013 I think I saw a mosquito in the pub the other day. Do they have an up and down up and down flying motion like someone flying a helicopter badly?
chrisp65
been the longest summer for quite some years here really hot again today, been trying to work out the garden, but mostly I've been sat on the lawn thinking how lovely and hot it is
