Villaphan04
IMO it would be a big loss, in that all our other cb's are rather injury prone
CarewsEyebrowDesigner
He's far too prone to mistakes for my liking. I won't be fussed if he leaves.
VillanousOne
after watching him be just as awful for Rep of Ireland with better players round him, i genuinely don't care if he leaves but i agree we would lack depth if he did Edited August 1, 2016 by VillanousOne
maqroll
We could use the depth he provides over a long slog of a season..

useless
Baker, Lescott, Richards, Elphick, Toner and Okore all still available for selection. Not even sure if we'll try and replace him, unless some of the others leave too.
Condimentalist
The chances of finding a better replacement have got to be pretty good, no? I'd be surprised but quite pleased if he leaves - as long as replacing him is part of this big month that Tony is promising us. Unlike a lot of last year's cohort, I don't think he has an attitude problem, he's just not very good. We don't need both him and Baker. He had a decent spell playing with Okore, but it looks like Elphick will start so could do with a left sider that's good enough to play week in week out without regularly cocking up. AVTuco Posted August 1, 2016 VT Supporter Share Posted August 1, 2016 Epitome of mentally weak... I used to like him, but not any more... let him go.
JAMAICAN-VILLAN
I'm wondering what Newcastle, a team which most of the naysayers see as leaps and bounds ahead of us, see in this "shite" player of ours?

PieFacE Posted August 1, 2016 VT Supporter Share Posted August 1, 2016 Out of all the people I'd like to leave Clark would be way down on the list. Decent squad player imo.

VillaChris
He's not that great and 5m is a decent price, no issue from me.
StewieGriffin
Not fussed at all. A touch concerned with the squad depth, as Okore and Baker are made of paper, but he can go. Fed up of watching him get bullied by opposition centre forwards.

If Newcastle can see something in him, maybe RDM can see the same thing (that we can't) http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/aston-villa-fc/2016/07/30/roberto-di-matteo-confident-aston-villa-will-keep-ciaran-clark/
sharkyvilla
He and Okore when put together seemed to play ten times better than when either of them played with someone else. If our first choice is Elphick and Baker then I'd keep them as back up.

useless
He might not be great but we need to replace him with better, as I'm not sure what we already have is. If we lose Clark and Gueye it could be argued that we will have lost our best defender and our best midfielder.
