Super-Villan
A really impressive international debut. He was especially effective more centrally in the first half, with some lovely passes and flicks (that with more talented team mates would have caused a lot more trouble). He competed as well. A couple of cheers from the crowd when he worked hard and harried to get the ball back. Really pleased for him.
keefa3011
I thought it took him 10-15 minutes to get settled, but when he got into the game he did very well. Let's be honest, it was, with the greatest respect to them, only the Faroe Islands...
stato
And he was only playing for Scotland I thought he did really well, he continued his fine form he's been showcasing for us.

lexicon
Excellent news to hear that The Cannon did a good job. I've got a lot of time for him as a player as his passing ability is just outstanding - it's great seeing him play after coming through the reserves. claret75
First I was afraid. I was petrified. Kept thinking I could never see Barry Bannan in our side. But I spent so many nights thinking where did it go wrong. Bannan grew strong and he learned how to carry on. And so he's back, with a little more pace. I just walked in to find him here with a shit eating grin upon his face. If the opposition is a stupid lock then Barry Bannan is our key. If they blink for just one second young Barry's going to make them pee

deeps
Martin O'Neill's exit as Villa boss was big break for me, says Barry Bannan By Peter Jardine Last updated at 11:07 PM on 17th November 2010 Scotland smash hit Barry Bannan has revealed how he feared his career at Aston Villa was in danger of being cut short - after Martin O'Neill dismissed the midfielder as too small. The 5ft 7ins 20-year-old midfielder, a standout in a 3-0 winning debut against the Faroe Islands on Tuesday night, said: 'Martin O'Neill had a problem with my height. I had a few meetings with him and the size issue always came up.' And Bannan, denied a debut goal when he saw a first-half strike hit the post, added: 'I was not going to get a chance in the team - no matter how well I did in training. 'Last year I was on loan at Blackpool and only playing games now and again. 'When O'Neill left Villa, I hoped someone would come in and give me a chance and trust me and the last few weeks have been a breath of fresh air for me. Obviously, it has been a big change in fortunes for me. 'Gerard Houllier has come in and has shown great confidence in me, I'm playing in the Premiership for Villa and now the Scotland gaffer has given me a chance.' Bannan breezed through his debut and yesterday he even had former Scotland boss Alex McLeish comparing him to Arsenal and England prodigy Jack Wilshere. 'Every game I play now gives me more confidence,' continued Bannan. 'At certain times in the past, I was disheartened. But you can't let yourself get that way because, if you do, your game tends to drop. 'I just hoped that some day something would change. Now the manager has changed and everything else has changed, too. 'Houllier wants a passing game and he gave me the nod for the first team after I'd done well in training. It's not just me. It's encouraging to see a lot of young lads coming through now. 'I know I'll have to work my socks off to stay in the Villa team. Hopefully, I'll be able to put together another few good displays.' clicky
Cenotaff
Barry Bannan could thread a pass between the crevaces of Steve Bruce's and Gordon Ramsay's faces and have it return to his foot before we have time to blink. Barry Bannan splits defenders better than Moses split the red sea.
