AndyM3000
People comparing our situation to the Bucks in the NBA as well is pretty far off the mark. The American sports system is well set up to keep it fresh, old teams who were awful have a chance to be good again in 5-10 years time, likewise strong teams can drop off. Jack had two paths, take Villa as far as he can and be a major reason why in 5-10 years we might be a top top team (Most of our success would likely come after him though) or try and win whatever he can now, CL, Ballon D'or etc but clearly have to be away from Villa. I'm not sure you'll find any footballers who fit in the first one of those paths anymore, I think them days are long gone. As I said before, he will go on to win things, it's impossible not to at City and truth is it makes no difference if Jack is there or not. I'm still convinced that when all is said and done, nothing can top the feeling he had when winning the play off final with Villa, no matter how small it is when you do it for your own it's just different. villan501
When this is done and dusted we will become the New Aston Villa 2021 no more reliance on one man,a brand new era, new players,a new approach to games. Jack grealish will be gone but our Villa will not, we're on a journey let's enjoy it and embrace it. UTV

Popular Post Mark_1989
WE WILL BE OK!!! We have made £100m from a player who cost us £0 A player who very often misses 1/3 of a season We have owners who are seriously ambitious We are a stronger team without Jack with the new recruits we have bought in to the team we finished last season with and we will continue to add to it. We are still making progress! Trust the process! Edited August 4, 2021 by Mark_1989 4

It still does.....Chelsea, Man City and the likes Man U too....just pick off every clubs best players....We used to do it in the 30's But Teams like Leicester and Villa & Ipswich,( 80's) build teams by shrewd and careful construction......It can be done, but it is harder as time goes on. The better the team the more likely you keep your players, but some top players like Vardy still stick it out. Our recruitment and academy, is our best chance to break the mould, we just have to stick with it. my suspicion with Jack is all about timing had he broken through now at 21 and not had to carry us for 3 seasons, he might have given it a shot, but the burden of doing that and the huge offer, has robbed us of our best player. Its consequential, it happened with Gerry Hitchens, so its nothing new.....In a few months time it will be just a passing memory.

Aston villa had the scenario when Jack's dodgy shins caused him to miss a fair few games we struggled but knew he would be back at some point. Jack leaving results in zero return we go our way forward imo the lifelong fan jack said he is has got off the wrong stop along this journey but if he is happy I know us villa fans will also once dust settles Change is not liked in life I hate it lol but I know it seems like a disaster but this is simply a blip we will regroup rebuild and all pull together because those of us supporting ❤ this club and always will.

Popular Post peteyp
I haven't posted on here for a while but felt like a rant and need to let it out somehow... Firstly, I'm 36 years old and I can't be arsed to hold a lifetime grudge against Jack. I won't boo him. On a human level I can appreciate how tempting a move to City may be. I appreciate the role he played in helping to get us promoted and stay up. He's undoubtedly one of the most talented players I've seen in a Villa shirt - a generational talent. On the other hand, f*ck him. One of the things that bothers me most about the general narrative in the media and online right now is the idea that he was doing us a favour by staying this long; by signing a contract last year he was somehow throwing us a bone to ensure we got a big fat paycheque this year. Firstly, Spurs are the only club who have come in for him before now and they thought so little of him as to bid £5 m and a part ex-change deal. Since then, we've given him the captaincy, built a team around him and played our part in developing him at pace, year on year, into one of the best midfielders in Europe. He's hardly been stagnating the last few years - he has constantly improved and been able to play pretty much however he wanted to. If he had gone to Spurs, I highly doubt he would be the player he is now, nor would he be earning 250K plus a week with the reigning PL champs. Him being at villa the last few years has been mutually beneficial for both parties, and I don't think that many people outside villa appreciate that or the role that we've played in his development. Secondly, would he have signed that contract last year if United (or anyone else) had come in for him? With hindsight, I doubt it. No bids came in, so he signed a contract for 125K p/w (not bad for a 24 yr old with one full season of prem experience), and obviously had assurances built in (either through a minimum release fee or gentleman's agreement) that we wouldn't stand in the way if an offer came in. It's hardly the act of altruism and loyalty that some make it out to be. He simply didn't have other options, so agreed to a massive pay rise and has, essentially, f*cked off the very first time a serious offer came in. I'm pragmatic, and realised that sooner or later we could lose him, especially if we had made no progress last season. But for large parts of the season we looked like challenging for the top 7, and this season could have pushed on even further. He's 25 years old. Undoubtedly a move to City is a great opportunity in many ways, but its highly unlikely to be his last. At the very least, I was hoping he could stay for another year, help us challenge for Europe and become established near the top end of the table, and if he still wanted to move he would have other opportunities with his prime years ahead of him (and leave with villa in a much more secure position). Instead, he's left a week before the new season - a potentially crucial season in which we could either push on, or slide back down the table. I'm **** annoyed. I think he's tarnished his legacy and it's a d*ck move. Maybe my mood will soften over the coming days... Sincere apologies for the long winded rant!
