I probably didn’t word it the best!

I very much doubt that. Pundits just flip flop like everyone else, if Sterling is scoring he's the best player in the world. Has he been poor this tournament? For me he hasn't been great, a few tap ins aside, he is wasteful, makes bad decisions and kills attacks - but he has bagged a few so that means he is the "player of the tournament" for England. It isn't a conspiracy, pundits are just damn reactionary people like all of us. This place is getting too cultist man. 5

Awol
England looked toothless until he came on and the Germans rightly bricked themselves. It’s not just what Jack does but the space he creates for others. Their defence just couldn’t handle it.

Great display from him. Yes he was good but the gap between him and Mings is a lot smaller then what Neville, ferdinand and Co make out, the disrespect he's been shown is out of order. Mings was part of one of the best defences in the prem and is in the England squad for a reason. A very underrated player for me. 5

The bloke can barely control or run with the ball. I'm not saying there has been some conspiracy. Just that they've been told to tone down the criticism. I think Sterling has been largely poor BUT has had great individual moments. Yesterday was the perfect example, I didn't think he was having a good game at all BUT the run he makes to start the move for his goal was brilliant and absolutely needed as no-one else was doing that. Does this mean he was MOTM? Nope, not by a long way - but it does highlight the effect he can have on a game and he can be equally praised for that and criticised for a lot of his game play too.

TheMelvillan
You know when you hear that the big players have a ridiculous semi serious £250m release clause in their contracts. Im starting to hope jack doesn't have one of those.
turvontour
What interests me with the man city link is what would their expectation be of his game time with them. Grealish has probably played an average of 35 games per year for the last 5 years. We'd expect next season fingers crossed to be his highest with Villa, ideally with a cup run and england appearances, so maybe 40 with a few games out. But Mahrez, Foden, De Bruyne etc play 55 games every season. It's a hell of an ask to play 20 more games per year than you're used to.

At that point the game was in the balance, could have gone either way and maybe it dawned on him what the backlash would be like if we plodded along in to a defeat. Zhan_Zhuang
£100 million? With current performances for England and assists I'd imagine his value is £200 million, I'd still not sell him for that if it was up to me.
Popular Post OxfordVillan
Lets keep it to “Jack Grealish” here, Raheem Sterling is for another page As we’re all witnessing now, Jack has become THE England player that everyone wants to talk about, that every interviewer wants to interview, the player whose name kids want on the back of their shirt. When this Euros is over, Jack will be the new “Beckham”, the new poster boy of English football. His value to Aston Villa’s owners is incalculable, for both what he does ON the pitch, and what he now brings off the pitch in terms of exposure and merchandise. He’s gone global. Given the stated ambition of the owners to place Aston Villa FC back amongst the upper echelons of English football, it would be unfathomable to even entertain the idea of selling such a player, an enormous asset. Every club that wishes to be big, to be known around the world, must have players that reach the consciousness of fans across the globe. Most of the time these type of players have to be bought for big money, tens or hundreds of millions of £s. We have one who’s been at the club since he was 6yrs old, is a boyhood fan of the club, hasn’t cost us a thing other than salary. That’s pretty damn unique. And so unless there is some thus far kept quiet release clause in his existing contract, then I don’t see our owners entertaining ANY offers arriving on their desks this summer. Or next summer. The club need the exposure to keep climbing higher, to attract the sponsors desperate to be linked in with Jack Grealish. We’ve got approximately £300m per year in revenue deficit just to catch Spurs & Arsenal, the sums are even bigger to the clubs above them. We simply cannot afford to lose Jack Grealish to stand any chance of closing the financial gap. We’ve witnessed with Leicester how winning things alone doesn’t bring the financial clout required, you have to have a superstar or two who every blue chip company in the world wants to be associated with. We’re truly in a uniquely fortunate position with Jack, and we must maximise that over the next two years, at least. 13
