Popular Post Farlz
Explains why both Grealish and Mings went off at 60. I'd say very good chance they both start the next game.

maqroll
As much as I want jack to suceed with England, I really don't care about the England team and I really hope he stays injury free while playing these stupid Nations League games. Why even stage the tournament, actually?
mikeyp102
He comes across as such a likeable bloke, all the players seem to love him. Said it before, but he really could become the next Beckham. Just needs to get himself a pop star wife. colhint
I know what you mean, but Jack isn't a machine, he dreamt of playing for Villa and England. So it doesn't really matter, I think he is happier playing in friendlies rather than not playing at all.

Awol
Class performance tonight. Had the feeling he was holding back a bit from shooting to try and please waistcoat, but as the game went on you could see the England players looking for him more and more. Soon as he went off England’s threat died on its arse. Will be something next summer to see the whole country screaming for our captain. Buzzing for him, just hope he gets the well deserved start against Belgium.

With 5-2-3 you're gonna have to bench 2 out of Rashford, Sterling, Sancho, Grealish. If you play with a 3 man midfield, Jack and Mount can play the 8 role, Mount being the more defensive of the 2 with Henderson holding. Definitely maddison or Jack should be in the hole behind Kane with Henderson/rice and either maddison/mount. Out wide we have Barnes, Sancho, sterling and grealish I suppose you could bring along rashford as well but I think he is unnecessary for international efforts. He is essentially just a worse version of sterling so bringing him along doesn't improve the squad. I also think you only need kane+ 2 other strikers either DCL, Ings or watkins. You need the extra space for wingers, full backs and cms.
birdman
Solid from Jack. I would say 6.5 out of 10 and still got MOTM. You can see how disciplined he was trying to stick to Southgates plan and for that reason I think he was limited compared to what we are used to. Very much sacrificed a bit of flair for the team game but as he becomes more confident with his England role he'll get even better. Linked up really well with Mount and Saka. Only played 60 minutes and there wasnt much intensity so good news for Villa. Guess he's going to play a part against Belgium though!

Great to see Jack strut his stuff
Guest
Jack showed enough to Southgate to earn at least a slot off the bench next game. If the game is in the balance, he will be a threat off the bench coming on in second half.

Southgate has said that categorically. I don’t think he will play that position for Villa more than a handful of times tbh. But I do agree with you that 4-3-3 would suit England better overall. ferguson1
I think Jack has even more to show everyone, especially next summer. If used correctly, he could be the player of the tournament. Class act. Edited November 13, 2020 by ferguson1

villan-scott Posted November 13, 2020 VT Supporter Share Posted November 13, 2020 Hopefully he gets a crack at starting against Belgium. The early change would point to him starting, but with Southgate you never know. I’m looking forward to seeing him play with Kane. Kane is my favourite non-Villa player. Popular Post KenjiOgiwara
I absolutely love to watch him play. He's become such a fantastic footballer it's hard to fathom. He's everything to me as a Villa fan right now. It's also funny how his stature has risen, cause I talk to friends of mine in Norway and they normally don't give a feck about Villa or Villa players, but Grealish is talked about like they would normally talk about Messi and other world class players. He's already got the name so to speak. I was also reading a Manchester United forum last night (cause it was said in the England match thread it was funny reading). I kept reading it now and this one stuck out: "I just heard this guy is actually the favourite player of my 10-year old swedish nephew. It used to be Messi and Ronaldo. So there shouldn’t be any marketing issues going forward. I had to ask him twice. Are you sure? Grealish? Aston Villa?? But apparently it’s true." Everyone are fawning about him now and rightly so. Lets move up the table and let him lift some trophies for us. It's been a long time coming.

Like he's going against his natural instincts to do exactly what he's told so Southgate can't say he's tactically poor. Loads of those runs where he was trying to find someone else and held onto the ball for too long wouldn't happen for Villa because he'd have the freedom to make his own choice to try something risky or work a shot. Also, being in the box for corners is stupid. Have him on the edge of the area like we do. He's most effective like that. The 3-4-3 really didn't help tonight and the midfield 2 of Mount and Winks were pretty poor, Winks especially. That's been the story of England mercurial talents since the 90s. . It's because we keep hiring muppets
