Probably an ecological disaster for wilife to boot. Ironic as Australia had the MOST climate denial Government for decades and have very rapidly become a green superpower. Just too late Gives a whole new meaning to playing The Ashes down there . Joking aside though , yes it’s very sad .
OutByEaster? Posted August 27 Moderator Share Posted August 27 The US is on a slightly different page to the rest of the world isn't it? Even most of the comments in opposition to Trump are about Kamala's "success" in increasing fracking and drilling.

Thing is California with its wildfires and temperature extremes and Kamala Harris is against Fracking. But now she wants to be America king, she’s having to appeal to peeps in mining areas and stuff, and the Dem party line is to allow it. Bit like Corbyn being against nukes and Labour being for them, when he was leader. Cheap gas, but they’re gonna burn.
OutByEaster? Posted August 27 Moderator Share Posted August 27 I read a recent article on the Alberta tar sands which says they'd underestimated the amount of pollutants it would release, and that the actual figures were in some cases more than 6,000% higher than predicted. It was already a project that will release more CO2 into the atmosphere during its working life than the UK has in its entire history - almost all of the oil from there goes South of the border into the US - that cheap gas obsession they have will most likely speed the end of human life on the planet. Profitable though.
Xann
Quote A US foundation associated with the oil company Shell has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to religious right and conservative organizations, many of which deny that climate change is a crisis, tax records reveal. Fourteen of those groups are on the advisory board of Project 2025, a conservative blueprint proposing radical changes to the federal government, including severely limiting the Environment Protection Agency. Shell USA Company Foundation sent $544,010 between 2013 and 2022 to organizations that broadly share an agenda of building conservative power, including advocating against LGBTQ+ rights, restricting access to abortions, creating school lesson plans that downplay climate change and drafting a suite of policies aimed at overhauling the federal government. Donees include the Heartland Institute, a longtime purveyor of climate disinformation, which published a video on YouTube in May stating incorrectly that “the scientific data continue to show there is no climate crisis”. Other groups that have received donations include the American Family Association, which claims that the “climate change agenda is an attack on God’s creation”, as well as the Heritage Foundation, the lead organization behind Project 2025...
