rjw63
Tried to watch First Responder last night before the footie. Won't bother watching episode two; too depressing, too full of scouse stereotypes, too many shell-suits and curly perms. Not sure if it was supposed to be set in 1985? sheepyvillian
On one of my Sopranos reruns, that 5th episode of the first season where Tony kills the rat, but it's also the one with Carmella and the Priest where they watch films and get drunk on wine and indulge in sexual thoughts for each other. Then the morning after comes and they're suddenly the most awkward couple in the world. Nothing beats this show.
sheepyvillian
In regards to The Sopranos, for lol moments, I have to give it to Junior, when he's talking to Tony's mother in the residential home and the old fellow walks by on his Zimmer frame and says to Olivia, "whose this a new arrival," and Junior in his own subtle way says, "go ahead, keep moving, fella". sheepyvillian
I've certainly got my re - binge head on lately. Decided to give Euphoria another look, and suddenly realised, I've really missed "Rue". Edited October 24, 2023 by sheepyvillian
sheepyvillian
Watching Euphoria, even though the character Rue isn't played to look sweet and innocent, there's no getting away from just how gorgeous Zendaya is. That Tom Holland is one lucky boy.
Sid4ever
Very late I know but The White Lotus Series 1 was on the plane Spoiler But it went downhill rapidly from Episode 5 Edited October 25, 2023 by Sid4ever Added series
sheepyvillian
I've watched a lot of shows where the subject of drugs and addiction has played a prominent role, but Euphoria really got that subject with all it's vicissitudes, and managed it with aplomb. mjmooney Posted October 24, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted October 24, 2023 Just started (first two episodes) of 'Bodies' on Netflix. Had to overcome my visceral dislike of Stephen Graham to do so, but luckily he's only been on for about five minutes so far. It's certainly ambitious. Sherlock Holmes meets Foyle's War meets The Bill meets Blade Runner.

Keyblade
Not sure if anime counts, but just finished Gundam Wing. Tomino's anti-war message is especially poignant in this current climate, but some of the writing was all over the place. Enjoyed it. English dub is way worse than I remember it from when I was a kid though

That's because he's an absolutely phenomenal actor, and one of the very best the UK has. I'm not really sure what 'professional scouser' means? He's played Americans in quite a few roles and has always been brilliant. He's also a bloody good bloke in real life. Maybe it's like me and my irrational dislike of Damien Lewis (I can't watch anything with him in). Edited October 25, 2023 by Designer1
mjmooney Posted October 25, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted October 25, 2023 I've only just realised that Bodies is based on a DC ̶c̶o̶m̶i̶c̶ graphic novel. Lowers my interest a little.
Mark Albrighton Posted October 25, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted October 25, 2023 I see that Netflix has the BBC series “Bodies” from about 20 years ago also available. I remember that being pretty good.
