depends how you define national security   .. as I understand it  Belgacom have a subsidiary called  Bics,  .. which handles data transfers between Europe and the Middle East

perhaps that is what GCHQ were allegedly interested in ?

I'm denying everything...

Oooh interesting

Not the most pleasant of political people by the sounds of it. I am surprised at his comments ""You can rest assured that I will continue to support your leadership of both the Conservative Party and the government." considering the role he is hoping to get.

I think that tweet is a little misleading! Whilst it may be true that Crosby uses an offshore company the link quite clearly shows that it is a UK tax registered company based in London that made the donation to the Tory party. Besides i'm not sure that Malta qualifies as a mysterious tax haven...it's a fully paid up member of the EU.

Malta isn't a 'tax haven', and nothing in that link you posted supports the idea that is.

Pffft.

Your lack of understanding really is quite staggering.

More drive-by trolling, and absence of argument.

Look at this, and reflect why so many of your posts are right down at the bottom of this grid.

Yes, it is ironic. The deputy speakers must be impartial and claim no political allegiance.

People can judge for themselves where that last post I responded to ranks on that grid, Tony.  And other posts.

I'm happy for people to point out if mine slip too far down that list.

But tell me.  When you see that grid, and respond "Wow that's kinda rich from you of all people", is that meant to be irony, or an attempt to pitch at a particular level of the grid, and if so, which do you think it best fits?

So he calls Bercow a stupid sanctimonious dwarf?  Well, Bercow isn't a tall man, and his tone can be sanctimonious, but he's very far from being stupid.

Whereas Mr Burns might find employment as a model for a photographer seeking to illustrate the word "bovine".  I think he's trying to do "Honest, straightforward, concerned", but it comes across as "chews grass, has four stomachs".

I am just wondering what the stance re the new High Speed Rail link will be now? Probably have no real impact but he was a bit of a spokesman on things.

Can't say I like the bloke based on what I have seen or heard (and that is not because of his political persuasion)

For those who can't bear to sit though the tedium that is Question TIme, the Guardian have helpfully provided a clip of the best minute or so - Mehdi Hasan summarising what is wrong with the Mail.  Here.

For anyone who is taken with the defence put forward by the Mail's senior staff (not their editor, who is cowering beneath a sofa on his estate), ie that the ideas promulgated by the head of the household can have a formative effect on the impressionable children who hear said views, here's a link to some interesting views.
