Kingfisher
Playing the man not the ball? I wasn't making fun of you, I hadn't read your post only the one I replied to. Apologies if it looked like I was having a pop.

snowychap
Was the 'That's how the Gulf works' stuff just an anecdotal aside, then?
Awol
Was the 'That's how the Gulf works' stuff just an anecdotal aside, then? Yes, in part to illustrate how other areas of the world operate. I've never lived in the US, Canada, Australia, NZ, Japan or indeed anywhere else outside of the EU where the idea of open door immigration to 25 + other countries would be considered utterly insane, and opposition to such a policy not in the least bit racist. But then those countries aren't faced with the kind of neo-socialist f*ckwittery associated with the EU.
chrisp65
well, euro results should start coming through just after 10 with only a third of the electorate bothering to vote and no one party gaining more than a third of that vote, it'll be interesting to see how much the media can describe this as a victory for anybody, having gained the endorsement of 1 in 9 voters

I'm very, very liberal, but looking from a distance, some of the ideas with the EU seem kinda crazy. The open immigration and the common currency specifically. At least the UK hasn't adopted the currency, but why would people support (mostly) uninhibited immigration?

Because it works both ways, British people are allowed to move to any other country in the EU, it's just that not so many do. The flaw in the system is that it is open to abuse from the minority who do come here just to claim benefits.
Avfc96
First lots of results in- 2 seats for Labour and 1 for UKIP. Both Tories and Lib Dems have lost one each.
Mantis
Can see UKIP getting at least 4 MEPs down here. Edited May 25, 2014 by Mantis

So it doesn't work both ways equally. That's not nearly as bad as the currency issue though, and y'all in britain kept your own currency, so I guess it's not that bad.
Awol
Forget the UK results for a minute, exit polls suggesting the Front Nationale have topped the polls in France. If true then that is genuinely worrying given their anti-Semitic DNA.
villaajax
I just wonder how well UKIP would be doing if the media didn't ram them down our throats, or if people were actually made aware of their other policies?

As I said earlier, their many shortcomings are also being publicised.
Awol
It's a European election. UKIP want to leave the EU. You don't need to be a London dwelling graduate to understand how voters have done the maths on that one.

snowychap
...neo-socialist f*ckwittery associated with the EU.I think it's pretty daft to directly associate racism with the right and an open doors immigration policy with the left. It's either pretty daft or an example of utter ignorance.

The open immigration...specifically.This is in no way meant to be personal (which may have to be taken on trust in the light of my post above though that wasn't meant to be personal either): In what way are you 'very, very liberal'?
