Jarpie
This is too funny to be true...but it apparently is, taken from BBC sport news: Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley's SportsDirect company website claims that the club are preparing a bid to sign Manchester United's Wayne Rooney The England striker recently signalled his desire to leave Old Trafford for the second time in three years having been left out of several key games, including United's Champions League defeat to Real Madrid. Troglodyte Posted May 15, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted May 15, 2013 To be fair, the Guardian ran with the story but did seem skeptical, even suggesting in the article that it was a publicity stunt to get more hits for the Sports Direct website. They're now running with the company's http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/may/15/sports-direct-sorry-newcastle-wayne-rooney'>apology.
LondonLax
Yeah the Guardian just reported that the SD website was claiming it, they weren't claiming anything themselves.
dont_do_it_doug.
I know its not exactly a fair swap. falcao is much better. but if torres can get back to his 08 and 09 they are even. CarewsEyebrowDesigner
Have a soft spot for Monaco after that memorable CL campaign. Madrid was the crazy game, wasn't it? Came back to stuff Zidane's lot. Same year Deportivo had their mad campaign too iirc. Pretty gutted when they were trounced by Porto. Good to see them back. villa4europe
i thought there were a lot of rumours but monaco werent buying anyone until the league came to an agreement over the taxing of wages if monaco are going round signing up superstars thinking they are getting monaco's tax rate and then from july then have to pay the super high french tax rates then i think its safe to say they might have one or two unhappy players

BOF Posted May 21, 2013 Moderator Share Posted May 21, 2013 Can't see Monaco's tax exempt status changing. They are a sovereign state entitled to have their own taxes. It's an unfair advantage in the football world but them's the breaks.

And the French league are entitled to kick them out Absolutely they are entitled to that and that's probably the only plausible solution, but they won't do it. Basically they just have to suck it up and get on with it.
villa4europe
is it going to a vote? can you see the teams that are flirting with the CL every year being too happy that moanco want to spend £150m odd on their squad this summer?
