villan-scott Posted May 29, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted May 29, 2014 Rickie Lambert to Liverpool Yeah, apparently betting is suspended on him going there, strange one that!
The_Rev
Dunno, I think it's a good signing. He probably only has one or two years left in him but at £4m (the fee I've seen) it's not much money and he will be able to slot straight into their squad ahead of a Champions League campaign. CarewsEyebrowDesigner
They should be aiming a little higher than Rickie Lambert.
RichardCanning
Rumour also flying the Lambert thing is part of Lallana deal Lallana has 25% of fee going to Bournemouth with some people are saying that fee Liverpool pay will be lowered by them paying more for Lambert. Dunno how true that is though
Rovers13
That's certainly feasible, because £8-10m for a 32 year old who's not that good is a bizarre price. But is that type of thin allowed? I'd think Bournemouth might take umbrage with a deal like that.
Mr_Dogg
Seems like a deal to ensure Southampton pay Bournemouth a smaller sell on fee for Lallana. Watch Lallana go for a smaller fee now.
VillaChris
Well their striking back up last season was Iago Aspas....he does add depth and can score goals in the premier league. What a fire sale it's going to be at Southampton. No way are they having as good a season next time.
dudevillaisnice
It could actually be a good signing for them. Not sure on the fee mind but the bournemouth stuff above probably explains it.
villan-scott Posted May 29, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted May 29, 2014 Bournemouth will be seething if that's the case. Poor show from Liverpool and Southampton if it's true, a deal is a deal, very dodgy ground for them.
P3te
For £4m I'd have taken a punt on Lambert at Villa tbh
RichardCanning
Interesting one as Sky reporting £8-10m, whilst BBC saying £4m + add ons
AVFCforever1991
For a 32 year old? wow.
heid3ster
Lambert was one of the few players I assumed Southampton would be able to keep hold of, due to his age. They are really gonna pick that place dry, aren't they?
AshVilla
They could have just kept Carroll

villa4europe
They're doing exactly the same as we did, play an exciting type of football people enjoy watching, got some good youngsters, got players in the England squad, real buzz about the place, picked apart in the summer Rinse and repeat I don't see how you can stop it, FFP rules certainly won't, it's killing the prem IMO, it's finished us already, anyone who is any good will see any club below the top 4 as a stepping stone Edited May 29, 2014 by villa4europe
Rovers13
Apparently lambert was a Liverpool youth player. It's pretty cool for him to be honest. Gone from league two to playing in the champions league with his hometown club. I doubt they're short on them, but maybe this is partially to meet the homegrown at the club requirement for the UCL? villa4europe
You only need 4 from the academy + 4 from England They should piss that
