bannedfromHandV
Somehow need to squeeze another 25-30 runs out of these last two wickets to have a chance I reckon. Terrible from all aside from Smith really, Atkinson not going to be bowling either so not looking great all round, although I’d imagine Chandimal will also be missing from their batting lineup having gone off injured. The Fun Factory
England were pants today but I think Sri Lanka deserve to win this test whilst hanging in there. They do need to re-look at the starting times for test cricket in September with all of this going off for light nonsense. Along with the chronic slow over rate and gloom paying punters have lost loads of overs. Start at 10.30 like county cricket. And why can't they switch to a pink ball of similar wear when it gets a bit dark? It has been a bit of a farce.
Avfc96
Happy that Sri Lanka are going to win this test. Firstly, away wins are rare in this era of test cricket and especially so for the likes of Sri Lanka. And for test cricket to survive, we need stronger and competitive Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and West Indies teams. Secondly, this England side needed a kick up the arse given their arrogant attitude, especially when batting in this game.

It's typical of cricket that they have the answer to the light issue already there in the pink ball but won't use it. All it takes is to look at the weather forecast for the coming week and realise that light might be an issue and decide to play with the pink ball. Anyway Sri Lanka and England deserved that result.

I think a solution may be, in the interim at least is that any test that starts in England in September starts at 10:00 or 10:30 and uses a pink ball. Avfc96
England have announced their squad for the tour to Pakistan. Crawley, Leach, Ahmed and Stokes all in the squad. Lawrence rightly dropped. Woakes makes it, I would guess to the fact that Wood is injured and hence goes as the lead bowler.
Avfc96
91-2 to 128 all out is disgraceful from the Bears.
Avfc96
Just caught up on some of the highlights from the T20 last night. Picking Overton as a specialist batsman and play him at 7 is ridiculous and beyond a joke. Did Hain p*ss in Rob Key's coffee or something? Rashid as brilliant as always, Livingstone did alright as did Mahmood.

Avfc96 Posted Friday at 20:57 Share Posted Friday at 20:57 Livingstone brilliant with bat and ball. Bethell and Carse very good as well. Questions to be asked as to why some players are in that side though. (Curran, Jacks and Overton).
Colin79 Posted Friday at 21:01 Share Posted Friday at 21:01 Not that it takes away from his brilliant performance but it would have been nice for Livingston to finish that off. Really liked the intelligence of Carses variation, kids got a big future.

You have to bring in Mouseley for the next game, better better and fielder than overton, and he can bowl.
sidcow Posted Friday at 21:30 VT Supporter Share Posted Friday at 21:30 Don't know why the fook people are flashing their bat at every ball trying to hit a six when just a flick for a single to win it is all that's needed. Thank goodness for Raschid being sensible. I really could see them bowling us out with Short on a hatrick ball

Xela Posted Sunday at 10:57 Share Posted Sunday at 10:57 The devastating speed that Motor Neurone has advanced on Lawrence is scary. Interviews with him from a couple of years back and he's a big strong bloke. Now he's confined to a chair
sharkyvilla Posted Sunday at 15:30 Share Posted Sunday at 15:30 Such a shame the T20 was rained off today with it being on BBC1 on a Sunday afternoon. I guess it's why there's little hope of cricket getting back on normal TV ever again, the execs must hate it when this happens.
Avfc96
Even by our own low standards, the 'performance' that Warwickshire have put up over the past day and a bit is beyond a disgrace. Bowled out for 78 before lunch on the first day, Essex score 232 and were 3-4 before lunch on the second day. Robinson has to go. 2

Only one win all season, amazing they're not relegated already, assume they may be bottom after this round of results though? Good chance they'll shortly lose this by an innings. Surely their resources are way ahead of many other clubs?

Surely their resources are way ahead of many other clubs? We won't be bottom, we will remain 7th. Before this round of games, Lancashire were 9th and 36 points behind. Kent are rock bottom in 10th and 41 points behind. We're effectively just about safe, but it's no less than a disgrace how we've performed this season. We do have resources, we just deploy them in the wrong areas. Last batsman we signed? Our overseas signings have been shocking as well. And we've still got OHD leading the attack, despite him being 35. Absolute mess of a squad, gone backwards over the past few years and a coach who has presided over it all.
