PaulC
yes its about time we did...Essex will be strong favourites though but t20 can be a great leveller...
Ghost
Surprised Plunkett has been dropped. Is he injured?
Xela
It's a very deep batting line up... Broad at 10? Probably worried about our inevitable batting collapse
snowychap
Hopefully Plunkett hasn't been dropped. I hope he has just been rested and that he isn't injured.
PaulC
I think India will regret only going into this match with three seamers and Jadeja... Pleased Woakes gets his chance...Been carrying the drinks too often for me...
Avfc96
Robson out again nicking off to slips, has an obvious weakness that needs addressing before the Ashes next year. Cook has batted himself back into some sort of form, remains to see if he can keep it up. Hopefully Ballance and Bell can bat on and make a big score tomorrow before Woakes rips through the Indian batting line up with his bowling. PaulC
Bell had a bit of luck for a change with the LBW that wasn't given. Hope he can take advantage of it tomorrow... Lets make 550 and bowl them out twice... The rosebowl can be a batting paradise though. Rememeber 2012 on the 4th day when Warwickshire struggled to get a wicket against Hampshire...thus allowing Lancs to win the title....
dAVe80
Really did feel for Cook today. Would have been great to see him get to a ton. He's laid the foundations though, for England to go on and get a big score.
lapal_fan
Agreed. While it was a big shame he didn't make his 100, he did really well under the pressure. No doubt he'll be slightly annoyed though. Think he'll do well in the 2nd innings! Go on cookie monster!

Yes and thats the most important thing not personal milestones...Its important we win this match because to win the last two for the series is a big ask. lapal_fan
Nice 50 for Bell off 99 balls. Hope to see him double that today. Looks like Ballance wants to stay in for the day too. India's bowler's need to improve, their fielders are going to be pissed off.
dAVe80
So I take it the plan form India is to play for 3 draws, now they're 1-0 up in the series? There doesn't seem to be much attacking intent from there bowlers, and there's the fact they've dropped an all rounder for another batsmen. This wicket seems like it'll help them with that too. Hope I'm wrong, but getting 20 wickets may prove a problem.
villa4europe
yep, this has draw written all over it, hoping england get to about 450 and go nuts, this is a bit boring
dAVe80
Ballance's dismissal is a shocker! No bat on that at all! I suppose it's evens now though, as Bell was out lbw yesterday, but not given.
lapal_fan
Bad decision, but Ballance again playing like he's been doing it for years. 156 is nothing to be sniffed at. What do we reckon about getting 500? More importantly, what do we think about taking wickets fairly quickly?

What do we reckon about getting 500? More importantly, what do we think about taking wickets fairly quickly? I would think the plan would be to bat all day, and get beyond 500, probably nearer 600. Then India would need to get to 400 to avoid the follow on, and England would have 3 days to try and bowl them out twice.

Can see these two batting similar to Ballance/Cook. I guess that's just about the most obvious thing to say

Avfc96
Yawn. Incredibly boring is this. They should have moved Buttler up the order to have a bit of fun.

It'll be nice if he can go in with no pressure, and smash a few. He is the sort of batsman who can take the game away from the opposition very quickly, if he gets in.
