MrDuck
Australia looking a bit shaky now at 155-3. Which means Clarke will now probably get a double hundred.
chappy
We could be left to rue that Carberry drop.
PaulC
Actually decent first day for England. The dropped catch could be significant. Monty dropped one off his own bowling so could have ended up with
Cliffy Biro
Decent day like the first test because our bowling is good, its the upcoming batting collapse that is our problem. Not convinced by root at all apart from one innings in the summer definitely not convinced he should be at 3.
stewiek2
It's only a good day if the batsmen perform. Which they didn't first test.
PaulC
Need to bowl them out first for under 350 i think then the batsman can do their job.
AndyM3000
This wicket is dead and we are providing them with chance after chance, should be on the tail end by now. When England get in providing they don't do anything silly and implode like the first test this is likely to be a draw.
MrDuck
FFS Stokes. Wicket is quite dead, but we're creating a heap of chances and not taking them. Does not bode well.

blandy Posted December 6, 2013 Moderator Share Posted December 6, 2013 I went today and Clarke was superb. That pitch, though - there's nothing there for the Bowlers. Johnson bowled a couple of quick overs and looked dangerous with the extra pace, but there was nothing for the rest of them.
PaulC
Swann and Anderson are a bit of a worry though aren't they? Did Carberry drop us the series? Edited December 6, 2013 by PaulC
Zatman
he will be used as a scapegoat if the big players again fail to get runs and one of them has already gone
PaulC
Yes but whether they get runs or not we can't win it now and we had the chance of getting them out for under 300 and then we could have batted for two days and put pressure on them 2nd innings. veloman
re. Carberry's dropped catch. I played in a high level County side - actually it was West Midlands County Council but we did once win the NALGO knock-out trophy ! If I had dropped that, no-one would have spoken to me again. Let's face it; that was a dolly and could have a significant impact on the result.
ThunderPower_14
Carberry's drop was absolutely unforgivable at Test level. A sitter.
PaulC
Carberry's drop was absolutely unforgivable at Test level. A sitter. You can forgive dropped catches but when its down to poor technique then its unforgivable. Basically a 4 year old child catches like that. he's very quick in the outfield, has a great throw but has hands like feet!
