Samsung Galaxy S line and Note line are the only Android phones that seem to hold their value well over time. I'm constantly baffled at prices S2's and S3's have gone for 18 months+ down the line.

Shows the power of brand recognition. Those billions of dollars spent brainwashing the public work.

The Note's in another league, though.

AT&T is still getting people willing to pay $99 and commit to two years for a minimum of $70/month for the original Note; on the eve of the Note 3 rollout, that's still $249 on contract! Meanwhile the S2 (contemporary with the original Note) long ago passed into the free with 2 year contract ether.

A question I've always wanted to ask you Levi. On this contract for 2 years stuff in America.

With the same data plan do you have the same monthly payments for the 24 months if you get a phone "free" on contract as you would for a phone with $199 up front?

Is there an easy way to get vanilla android on my galaxy s2?

Depends if you have rooted and played with flashing a custom rom before. If not it's a bit of a learning curve

Cyanogenmod announced that they're developing (and will be releasing soon) an easy installer for their ROMs. Should be available in the next couple of weeks. What you get Pompey is Vanilla android with extra useful stuff.

Is good.

Yeah.

You'll also pay the same per month if you don't take the subsidized phone (though you're not tied to a contract in that case).

Really!! So there's no competition basically? There is a rate for say 5gb data unlimited calls and texts and it's identical if I turn up with a Nexus 4 as it is to just pay the $199 for a HTC One or whatever?!

It's absurd, where is the US Government?? The European Comission has tackldt the unfair near collusion of phone charges for roaming etc..

The US Government aren't made up of socialists and commies!  Capitalism wins every time on that side of the pond.

Decided to get a few more games, just for travel purposes. Already trying to beat Nayson at dots (I'll get there) but also got Final Fantasy 4, amongst a few others.

Love that game.

On another note, Google play music really is a gem.

Down here There is a big difference between network suppliers. Streaming music I have rated EE best, Three second and O2 awful, with a few left to try.

You mean buying politicians with campaign contributions and lobbying. The corruption of capitalism.
