Eames
Given that the consensus among the tech community (certainly on VT anyway) is Vanilla Android GOOD - manufacturer skins BAD. I cannot think of anything that could possibly be worse than this. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-22025729'>Facebook launch custom "wrap" for Android OS Why on **** earth would anyone want that?! Was like wtf. Still dont fully understand it being a tech noob though tbh. But it's already going to be built in to the samsung galaxy s4 and the HTC one ? Or so it seems to say... 26th April apparently. Ty Ty.... and that's **** long man. So pissed off now aha. Very impatient. Whats the memory or storage compared to the nexus and samsung btw ? dont_do_it_doug.
Re - Facebook Home, what is it you don't understand? It turns your phone into a facebook phone. You turn it on, there's your news feed. All of your searches route through facebook (so they know what to advertise to you, what kind of porn you like etc), it'll have integrated facebook chat. I've no idea how customisable it will be, if at all, but no doubt the privacy settings will be as complex and as convoluted as ever. It sounds horrendous. It's anti-android. It'll turn your smart phone into a dumb one trick pony.

Has your news feeds for twitter, facebook etc basically on your home screen. of course it doesn't come up straight away but you scroll to the side of the time, date etc and timescape appears with all your social media searches. Why is this any different besides from the fact you can use fb chat etc ? Also this facebook home thing sounds awful. I certainly wont be signing into it as im rarely on facebook anymore (Surely if you dont have facebook you can switch it off ) and when i do go onto facebook I just get seriously **** off with the amount of baby's, horses or dog's on my newsfeed. >__>
Keyblade
Mine has been giving me the upcoming Villa fixture for months. It looks slightly different today because of the update, but nothing especially new. Mind you, I subscribe to the Aston Villa fixtures Google calendar so that might have had an impact I guess. Heh exactly the same here. But I think you still gotta add them to your teams for it to show up on Google Now.

Unfortunately not, they can show up if it's something that your search history leads Google to think you'd like to know, which often leads to me having results for teams I've never heard of show up in my notification area. The Edmonton Eskimos. Really Google?
The_Lions_Roar
I just used Google to find a pub on my ipad and 2 minutes later it pops up on my phone with distance etc and asking me if I want directions. Is this because they're both connected to the same wife? I need to be careful what I'm searching for in case the missus gets a shock!
limpid Posted April 5, 2013 Administrator Share Posted April 5, 2013 Perhaps you should use a tablet where you can have separate accounts.

At the risk of being obvious, don't let your wives share tablets or phones with each other. Also, the incognito mode on Google chrome may also be your friend. PieFacE Posted April 5, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted April 5, 2013 The Facebook Home idea just sounds so retarded. I can't get my head around in whats the point? Why not just plaster your android phone in Facebook widgets?

The_Lions_Roar
Perhaps you should use a tablet where you can have separate accounts. Yeah I need to change it, I got it when it first came out. Before I saw the light of android. Also just noticed it auto corrected wifi to wife! I just didn't expect to Google something on their and have it appear on my phone. Can't decide whether it's good or bad.

Stevo985 Posted April 9, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted April 9, 2013 Anyone know of any leads/gadgets that will display a Nexus 7 on a TV (preferably via HDMI) I've got one for my S3 but, even though they're both micro USB, it doesn't work on my Mom's Nexus. I've found a couple of gadgets This Lead This gadget And this gadget The drawback of the first lead is that it wouldn't charge the tablet so you'd be relying on battery (which isn't really a problem, but not ideal) And none of them specifically say they'll work with a Nexus 7 (NExus 4 and 10 are mentioned). I assume they WILL, but wanted to ask if any VT'ers have some better suggestions.
limpid Posted April 9, 2013 Administrator Share Posted April 9, 2013 It's a pity it doesn't support Miracast as that is exactly what you want here. I've never tried to do what your doing, but the DSR means you can buy them, try them and return them.
Stevo985 Posted April 9, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted April 9, 2013 Yep, obviously I'd return them if they didn't work. But would rather someone knew of one that definitely works to save me the hassle. It's only so my Dad can watch the F1 and Game of Thrones every week. he's got Sky Go on his computer already, but I want to put it onto my mom's Nexus 7 instead in case he has to watch it in bed (cancer treatment). But when he's not in bed he can still watch it on a big screen.
The_Rev
You can stream the Nexus 7 to a PS3 or an Apple TV (or similar device) with Airsync.

The_Rev
I cant say how good it is, I bought the app for 10p when it was on sale once but I've never actually used it.
