Eames
Pah. But we still can't download programmes via the iPlayer lie iOS users can.
Eames
There is nothing interesting about this post. I'm just trialling swift key flow to see if I can get on with it. Truth be told it's a bit odd. I may just leave it to typing. Not sure.
PompeyVillan
Just discovered the awesomeness of google music. Google are smashing this whole 'cloud' marketing. All my photos and videos are instant uploads to G+ already and now my music.

limpid Posted February 20, 2013 Administrator Share Posted February 20, 2013 On a Nexus you can force the upgrade by clearing the app data for "google services framework" and checking for updates. I don't really want to be more specific than that as once everyone knows, it'll get changed.
The_Rev
That should work on any device when you know an update has been pushed for it as far as I am aware. I think it reverts the phone to a state where the system thinks it's a new activation and therefore it gets bumped to the top of the queue for updates. I've done that in the past for big updates, but for a 4.2.x update I wasn't really that fussed and prepared to wait for it.
limpid Posted February 21, 2013 Administrator Share Posted February 21, 2013 It looks like it caches the last check for a number of days and doesn't actually check again until the cache expires. Clearing out the cache means the next check is immediate.

Tegis Posted February 21, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted February 21, 2013 It's weird, the S3 quality. The S2 in indestructible. I've dropped mine on the pavement 3 times, all is well apart from one dent in the corner from one of the drops. My mate has dropped his twice from the roof of the house he is building onto the cement slab below. Almost no marks on it. 4 other mates with S3s have had theirs sent back for multiple reasons but mainly for cracking cases and screens, and not from drops. How has Samsung managed to lower the quality this much between models? I've not heard any bad things about the Gnex either in terms of quality. I'm homing in on the Note2 LTE and it makes me nervous. But first it's the Nexus4 in a week. Got a S3 for 300 quid, That'll do for 6 months until it's time for something 5 inch plus. Please don't break

Tegis Posted February 26, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted February 26, 2013 (edited) And we thought the Note was a bit big to hold against the ear. But a $249 pricetag is low, for a reason one might suspect. Edited February 26, 2013 by Tegis

Meath_Villan
A bit to **** big ..........i think my S3 is just about the right mix
Eames
Agreed. As an phone my S3 is the perfect size. I personally found the Note 2 to big. I wouldn't want to walk around with my N7 in my pocket all day. That would be **** ridiculous.
Stevo985 Posted February 26, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted February 26, 2013 Yep, S3 is abotu as big as I would go (and have gone) I reckon. The note looks stupid, and that fonepad thing looks downright hilarious. Dom Jolly will be in fashion soon.
PompeyVillan
I'm surprised that the ad didn't show a woman using it and storing it in their handbag. A bloke couldn't use that it's far too big to fit in your pocket.
The_Rev
It's not really a phone though is it? It's a tablet computer that you can make calls from. Samsung have proved there is a market for that with the Note and Note 2, and I'd expect others to follow suit because there really is no reason why a tablet shouldn't be able to make calls is there? nobler
Just a quick question. I'm unable to watch live feeds on my Nexus 7; for example on Youtube, Twitch and stuff like Final Score on the BBC site. Is this a flash player issue? Usually says something like 'unsupported format'. Can't seem to find any help by Googling it.

Surely that makes it a phone? It appears to be aimed at people who would use it as their normal phone, at least that was the impression I got. Either way, if I saw someone whip that out to make a call with I'd laugh out loud. And, to be honest, if it had a nice silver apple on the back of it, most people in this thread would too.
