ender4
1000 messages a day?! and your battery lasts 2 days? My S3 battery lasted about 12 hours, if I was lucky. And that was with sending about 2 messages a day, and using it for basically nothing else! very strange. so i charged mine overnight last night - its now 1pm and i've sent/read whatsapp messages back and forth all morning (say around 400 messages), i've been on the internet 4-5 times, checked facebook, been in a couple of other apps, no calls & no texts though. its now at 80%. the afternoon will be the same usage, so by this evening it'll be at 60%. easily get another day's usage, so not point charging it overnight till the next night. Stevo985 Posted June 6, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted June 6, 2014 Then you have a magical phone. I don't know anyone with an S3 who gets anywhere near that. Also, 400 messages in one morning? Really? who on earth are you messaging?

Really? who on earth are you messaging? i'm in a fair few groups - a group of my friends, a work group, an old works group, a cousins group, a family group, a 'boys chat' group, a footy chat group, a gaming group, etc... a new message pops up on average probably every 30 seconds, and if i don't check my phone for an hour i can have 100's of messages from various groups. i have whatsapp on silent, so i don't get a buzz/beep each time i get a message, but i just check my phone every few minutes and catch up on the various messages that have been posted, and post my replies to each thread. Lighting the screen every few mins will be far more battery intensive than a single beep.

PompeyVillan
I've never heard of anyone messaging so much on a mobile device. You must be incredibly fast at typing and on your phone all of the time. And have one of those massive extended batteries.

And have one of those massive extended batteries. You've never heard of anyone messaging that much? I'd say i probably IM the least out of everyone i know. I don't think i've rang or texted or emailed or facebooked a friend in the last 3 years - everyone chats through IM. Don't forget i'm not writing a 1000+ messages a day, thats the total messages per day that i'm either writing or reading. i probably write 100-200 a day. its just like talking really, so you'll easily type 5-8 messages a minute. so if have a quick 5 min chat with a friend, that'll be 30-40 messages just there. its not like texting or emailing where you say everything in one message, its conversational. so a lot of messages will be a couple of words long. I assure you its a pretty normal amount of messaging.

On topic, had my Nexus 4 for about 6 months and it sreally is still the bees knees. On;y gripe (like many phones of this type) I end up having to stick it on charge about 8pm if I'm surfing the net whilst watching TV. Other than that I can't see any reason to chnage it. p.s. had a system update last night, assume others did too, Android 4.4.

Tegis Posted June 10, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted June 10, 2014 I ended up hating my s3. Anybody used the Xperia Z? Any good? I use the Xperia Ultra, same shit, bigger screen. I've put the Google play edition rom on it but I used the original rom for a few months before that and I liked it. MUCH less intrusive and heavy when compared to touchwiz on Samsung. Sony are pretty fast with upgrading their phones as well.
